Great meeting. one of our best pickin' meetings ever. Great crowd. Jody Cameron presented a short teaching segment on E9 and C6 "licks". The new players featured Jerry Harkins-D10 Fessenden, Danny Kirby-D10 Zum, and Leon Miller-S12 Sierra. The featured players were Jody Cameron-D10 Mullen and Bobby Bowman-D10 Zum. They treated us to some great country, swing, and gospel numbers. The Super Jam included the above players plus James Cross-D10 Emmons, and Jody Sanders -D10 Pedalmaster. Lots of fun and good pickin. The band : Patty Phelps and James Harvey on bass. Billy Phelps on drums, and Jim Saunders and Dennis Lobbel on guitar. The Vocalists: Billy Phelps and Dennis Lobbel. Billy Phelps turned us on to an insurance company that insures music equipment at a reasonable rate. It was real nice having Jerry Harkins all the way from Marble Falls,TX on the show today. The boy can pick. Thanks again to Billy and Patty Phelps for all they do to keep our club operating. Have a MERRY Christmas, and may GOD bless. Jody, Billy, and Patty. |

Thanks to Billy, Patti and Jody S. for a great time. I love to hear my pal Bobby Bowman play...so much soul and feeling! It was great to see Jerry Harkins too. I would like to suggest that Jerry be a featured player at our meeting sometime.
James Sission is coming on strong, as well. Good job James, and everyone else, too. Thanks to all who came and participated and to those who came to listen...

Good show. And, what occurred to me is that we get a first hand, up close, preview of various amps, steels, and effects units. For instance, Jody Cameron was using only a RV3 with a NV1000 and a NV112. Right beside his was Dan Kirby's Fender Steel King with only a Boss Compression unit. Both had nice tones, but Jody's seemed bassier. Several used a Profex. We had a pushpull Emmons beside a Zum. You decide which tone you like, but as each player took a ride, you could hear whatever you wanted to hear.

I'd like to thank Jody C & Jody S for letting me play my Fessy at the Meeting.
I had a blast, and it was great to meet everyone and listen to some nice steel guitar playing. a great job by everyone!
I'll try to make another one soon.
To all the steel players and lovers of the steel in the south texas area, please help support Steel Guitar. These meetings are a great place to do that, hear some great music, and learn about Steel Guitar.

Let me add my thanks and appreciation to the SETexas Steel Guitar Club as well.
For me, this is an absolutely phenomenal opportunity to learn. These guys are my heroes, and to have a chance to sit in with them is just awesome.
I pick up something new every time that will soon find its way into my playing.
Best wishes to all for a super holiday season, and a great New Year!!

Hey guys, thanks to all the pickers that were at the SETexas meeting Sunday. What a turn out! It reminded me of the international thing! Jody Cameron and Bobby Bowman did great on their presentations. Both of you guys have some great pulls that only come with talent and experience. I really enjoyed that. It was nice to see some new players I hadn't met before. Thanks to Billy, Patty, Jim, James and Dennis for the great backup band. That's the one thing that makes steel pickers stand out from the rest, we are brothers and we care about each other. Merry Christmas to everyone. |
