Texas will be coming to Nashville on Saturday Jan. 13, 2007 where my dear friend Justin Trevino will host the Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree. I will be there to play steel, and I'm sure that Justin will have the best traditional country musicians to join us for this fun evening. There will be a couple surprize guest as well. It's my first trip back in over a year, and I'm looking forward to seeing many of my good friends.

Yeah Cal, if we could just get Wade and Abe to show up and play some twin fiddles we'd have the whole show or maybe Johnny will bring 2 or 12 fiddlers with him. Remember the great times we had when we had 2 or 3 fiddlers and 3 or 4 or even more steel players. I can actually remember when there were wall to wall steels.

I wish I could name all the steelers that use to come down to Gabes and play but that would be impossible. There were just to many to remember but here are a few that I can think of. Not in any particular order of importance either Smile Please forgive any misspelled names :-)

Smiley Roberts, Jay Andrews, Danny Muhammed, Bobbe Seymore, Bob Watson, "Big Jim Murpyh" Dave Robbins, Sonny Purdum, Wayne Kincade, Phil Coonce, Terry Bethel, Johnny Cox, Doug Jernigan, Mike Sweeney, Don Helms, Lynn Owsley, Ron Elliot, WC Edgar, Ron Hogan, Bob Hempker, Jimmy Day, Charley Day, shoot thats 22 someone else help me with the list. If I left anyone out I sure apologize! and many many more.

If you didn't get to get in on the fun well I'm sorry for you because we had more fun than the law allowed. I will always remember the fun we had there picking those shuffles and swing tunes by golly we even allowed a ballad once or twice a year.
