Sold, please close - Rare 1969 Vintage Fender Custom Guitar

Post by Julian Goldwhite »

Up for sale is my 1969 Fender Custom (also sometimes labeled Maverick). This is one of the rarest of Fender's guitar models, they were made for about 2 years by Fender to use up parts from the discontinued Fender XII, and they hardly ever come up for sale. High res pics available if you are interested - some honest wear, belt buckle rash and a few dings, had to replace part of the vibrato mechanism because it was non-functional, but all the original parts come with the guitar along with the original case.

Hard to research prices online because of the model name. The only two examples I can find at this time lead me to ask $3,450 + shipping. There is one in much worse condition on eBay right now for almost $500 more. PayPal accepted, buyer to pay the fees.

Open to equitable trades or trades + cash. Donation to the forum will be made if this sells on here.

All the best,

Julian

Julian, you better take the money and fix that fence behind you! LOL

A Buddy of mine has a 12 string that looks very similar to that.

Doug,

Yeah the fence is one of too many projects on my plate at this time...

As for the guitar, it does have a factory modified body and neck made for a Fender XII.

All the best,

Julian

I remember pics of Frank Zappa playing one of these. For what it's worth.

trade for guitar

Post by Anthony Taibi »

good day, I have a late 70's shobud pro 3 custom D 10 that I'm looking to trade for a nice guitar. I was told that the steel is worth around 2000. The steel was in storage for some time but I recently cleaned it up and have it running again. It has the original case a tone bar and new strings. please let me know if you're interested.
Thanks, Anthony

Hi Anthony,

I appreciate the offer, but already have two Sho-Buds (I know... you can never have too many old 'Buds) and was looking to get into something else. Possibly might be interested if it's a real stunner, but would need some cash as well to be closer to a straight across trade.

All the best,

Julian
