getting some stocking stuffer requests together and i'd really like to get some Noel Boggs CDs - i have the "best of" i dont usually buy those, but...there isnt much available, so i had no choice.

anyway, love the stuff on there and would appreciate any advice - i do have some of the Bob Wills era stuff on a box set.

I would recommend Wade Ray's "Things I Might Have Been". Boggs is a sideman, but he's great and so is Ray's voice.

I agree with Mike, the Wade Ray recordings are tops. The Shuffletown recording is a great one to have, might be hard to find tho.Boggs steps out a bit on there. Some Jimmy Wyble recordings. Also a few era's os Spade Cooley feature Noel.

The Wade Ray and Shuffle Town recordings are incredible. I'd also add the Hank Penny, Standard Transcriptions to the list. Noel's solos on "The Penny Opus No. 1", "Big-Footed Sam", "Crazy Rhythm", and "You’re Bound to Look Like a Monkey" are studies in how modern a straight bar can sound.
