Latest news and a complete revision of the player schedule on the PSGA web site: http://www.psga.org/

We are pleased to announce the addition of another notable player to the program. Lucky Oceans, formerly with Asleep At The Wheel, will be doing an evening set on Saturday Nov. 11th and a second set at approximately 4 pm on Sunday afternoon Nov. 12th. Lucky is visiting his old stompin grounds and will be in New York City on Nov. 11th & 12th. He's looking forward to playing the show.

The Saturday schedule has been expanded to a total of 9 hours of steel music which does NOT include the 3 hour Chuck Lettes instruction seminar starting at 8 am Saturday morning.

Additional good news - the Doubletree Hotel now has a Starbucks on the lobby level, in addition to their full service restaurant.

Bob,
This is simply fantastic! From the original Asleep At The Wheel to Australia's Dude Ranch this player is fantastic and is worth way more than the price of our show and then some.

With all due respect[s] to the noted performers, what about "Jimbeaux" Cohen.

After all, he has 3 CDs out, and "Home James" is a killer.

He's played the big New England Steel show in the past, so, what's up?

Jim may have prior commitments, but I doubt it.

Tell us; Jimbeaux or PSGA....

Chip Fossa: Jim Cohen played on our show last year. I guess you may have forgotten. Jim's on our list for a repeat performance, but not this year. We don't schedule players according to the new CD's they are planning to release. Granted that his latest CD is by far the best he's done and I told him that face to face in St. Louis.

I agree with your comments on Jim's steel playing. He has established himself as a very reputable musician and deserves to be listed among the foremost plyers of the instrument. We have a committee that selects the steel players and other artists for our show a year in advance. The list is a mile long. Each of the committee members have just one (1) vote.

Hey Guys, I will be there all weekend with my son Cameron, we are really looking forward to this show, even more so now that Lucky O is on the bill.

I have been a BIG fan of AATW, especially the early records that Lucky was on.

Maybe someone can find Leroy Preston and get him down to the show. I know he lives somewhere in Vermont.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!!

Great idea, Craig, I'll give Leroy a call and see if he wants to come down and sing some Texas Shuffles!

Craig, since you will be a staff member at the show, you must be aware that any additions to the artist line up need to be cleared through the show committee, via Jeff DeMaio. Our budget is beyond it's limit at this point and it would be inappropriate for PSGA to assume any additional financial obligations.

I'm personally pleased that so many others, in addition to myself, have expressed their joy that Lucky is able to be with us this year.

I agree Bob, I just thought it would be great to get the two of them back together, even if it's just a social thing.

I would be willing to contribute if there were any costs involved though

This is going to be a great weekend

Thanks for the kind words and the heads up about protocol, guys. I don't even have Leroy's phone number at this point. If by any chance he could make the show, I would run it by Bob and Jeff and not expect any money.

Sorry guys, I haven't been on the forum very much - to busy preparing for this weekend.
Few things - Chucks steak house has been warned to expect a few steel players for a good steak.
Also wanted to let you know the little coffee area at the Doubletree is now a Starbucks.
Also the hotel has free wireless internet access. Including access in the ballroom.
See you all this weekend, Jeff

Bobby Caldwell: Thanks for all your good wishes I do hope that sometime in the not too distant future we can have you with us to treat our audience here in the Northeast to the great talent with which you've been gifted.

For those who are not aware - Bobby is not only one of the very best lead guitarists (he's played lead with more steel guitarists than Carter has pills) and he plays steel.

I will always remember that without his encouragement and excellent lead work on stage in St. Louis, I would have been at a distinct disadvantage playing steel before the multitude. He's definitely a musician's musician!
[This message was edited by Bob Maickel on 07 November 2006 at 07:36 PM.]

Bob,

I finally met and also enjoyed Bobby play in St. Louis in September while on the stage at Scotty's. Bobby is CLASS all the way.
