A personal friend of mine , who is a complete music theory nut/genious has been working on a pedal steel copedent for the past year or so(correction ITS 3 Years in the making). I am told by my teacher that it is to be used on a s12 with 5+5 setup. Im not sure of details but I will post a chart as soon as I recieve one. Supposedly this is a completly new system that nobody is using. Im very interested to see. What are your thoughts? Can it be a new cope is available?

Jeff you're in for a rough ride here.
As Bill Hankey's topic "Have We Outgrown The E9th Chromatic Tuning?" went is a good hint of your fate. |

No bob he's not a steel player. He plays double bass and fender rhoads. Im not intending on even messing with this copedent. I haven't even dabbled with whats to learn on the e9th. I just figured you veterans would get a kick out of something like this, and being the knowledgable guy my friend is, it should be a good thing. sorry for the run on. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 , Lil Izzy Buffer, Goodrich 120 volume pedal, Boss DD-7, Peterson Strobo flip, Peavey Nashville 112 |

I would rather hear it in use..., just remember Maurice plays more cords on a 12 string non pedal than i can find with 9 & 6...)) |

I agree! Im not so good with theory as it is. I didn't design this so I cannot explain all of the little advantages it provides. I was told that this copedent is a true 6/9, and gives you a ton of chords. It splits the grips up from what I can see. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 , Lil Izzy Buffer, Goodrich 120 volume pedal, Boss DD-7, Peterson Strobo flip, Peavey Nashville 112 |

I just noticed that I forgot to take away the High B string that is listed (without a string) Pay no attention to that B. Also the Lowest string (F) may be changes to an Eb. Not sure yet. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 , Lil Izzy Buffer, Goodrich 120 volume pedal, Boss DD-7, Peterson Strobo flip, Peavey Nashville 112 |

RKR lowers E to D. (hard to read)
It's an E6/9. I was playing a C6/9 for a few years. It looks like it would work. Is he going to try it? _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

not exactly sure. I think as soon as he gets a good deal on a steel. He doesn't own one yet. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 , Lil Izzy Buffer, Goodrich 120 volume pedal, Boss DD-7, Peterson Strobo flip, Peavey Nashville 112 |

tell him to get him a 10 or 12 string lap steel and tune it to the original 6 string Leavitt tuning and then add some upper strings to it, whatever he likes. you can play just as many jazz chords on it, it weighs very little compared to a pedal guitar, cost a whole lot less and you might get just as many chicks with it. gal on one arm, lap steel under the other....
here is a jazz standard i recorded on a non pedal 14 string lap guitar, but i only used maybe 10 or 11 of them

That set up looks very cool. Looks to be made for quartal harmony. I would say go for it. The ability to pivot off of 4ths rather than the more standard tri tone approach might very productive. _________________ Bob |

Here:
Looks very playable...some combination of Jernigan's "Avenger" tuning and Julian Tharpe's E6/9.
Bill, great playing (as usual). What's your 14-string tuning? _________________ www.pedalsteel.ca |

How does this relate to Zane Beck (or maybe Zane King) E6/9 tuning? |

It is interesting that strings 1 through 10 match my open tuning. I have demonstrated on many occasions the use of my first 4 strings. There are clearly advantages to the combination from top - G#, F#, E, C#. Aside from that there are very few similarities. My current 10 string combination is 5/5. I am playing that on my "Red" Jackson Blackjack where I play Amazing Grace. I plan to demonstrate more on that setup because I believe it is a very useful tuning that opens up some musical space that is not necessarily upon the traditional E9 standard. Of course, that's one man's opinion along with a few others who have been giving it a try. _________________ Zane King

Please post your copedant. Some of the sounds that you get on your demo are just wonderful. Very nice playing, by the way. Enjoyed it very much.
