What is the optimal string clearence for a George L pickup?

The E-66 is a popular favorite. Mine is in backwards (text facing in), but it works either way just fine. Razz

I didnt have to mill the cavity, just remove the unneeded wide tabs, and it just fit in at a 0.25 (US quarter) height. Cant lower it, but dont need to, it sounds fantastic. Since there is a plastic cover over the poles, they arent as close to the strings as it may seem. Open pole pickups are sometimes placed a tad lower than covered ones for this reason.

I have a Wallace TT in my guitar & I use a flat 1/8 in. pc. of alum. which is a tad bit thicker than a 25 cent pc.,works great & no loss of tone or sustain.
