the first noel
I admit, I like christmas tunes.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to listen to public radio and go shopping till I drop. It's the MELODY I'm in love with... here's why:
This tune is the first i learned as a child, on my mother's old organ.
It whirred when you turned it on. It sounded like a car horn, but it made music. It had keys like an accordian on the left, so you could accompany yourself.
It had legs that unscrewed, and it was brown. It smelled like old wood. I remember that old thing, because i started playing music on it.
That's why i dig this time of year; it brings me back, to when i was a kid. Now that i have my own kids, i especially like this time of year. I love watching them be happy and discover the world. Like i did, with that old organ.
Anyways, that's the mood I intend to capture in this rendition of a traditional melody. Enjoy, and happy holidays,

Really nice version, Chris, and the variations on the melody are quite tasteful and enjoyable. I was expecting to see the 3 of you together in frames at the end.
You captured a very fine mood, for sure. Christmas songs, for those of us who grew up with them, seem forever connected to early family experiences I'm glad yours were happy and musical--as many of mine were. |

WOW! What a great performance with so many instruments and I had no idea that YOU were such a truly great, strong rythmn guitarist. The way you laced together seamlessly the various segments is unequalled. Very nice touch.
And YOUR DESK! It's so clean! Isn't that a sign of something? |

Thanks Tom and Ray! I couldn't get the other guys to stick around.
It's having a clean desk, that gives me peace and clarity, to play the instrument properly. (Either that or close your eyes and visualize a clean desk...)
