i, like many here i'm sure, keep an eye on ebay regularly
it would be a break if Douglas's Zum came up on auction there.
that way it would'nt be "in hiding" & Douglas could just put the slam on it

Thanks for all your help guys. It is greatly appreciated. I am at this time really looking hard for a steel. Dear friend Marty Neer has loaned me a guitar and my good buddy Ray Qualls has loaned me an amp. I want to say thankyou publicly to both of them for helping me out. I also want to say thankyou to Bob and his great feat of keeping the forum together and working so hard to run it. I know he couldnt do it with out the rest of the coordinators or our monetary help to keep the forum going. If it hadnt been for the forum the KSGA would not have become a reality, it was the forum that brought us all together.
Dear brothers from my heart thankyou and God Bless You All

Well has been a long time since I posted under this topic. Yesterday I recieved an email from a gentleman in Norway. He says he bought a steel guitar off of ebay and was very suspicious of the guitar. So he called Bruce and they conferred about the guitar and confirmed it probably was a stolen zum. The gentleman then sent the guitar back to U.S. to Bruce. I called Bruce this morning and we spoke and we are pretty sure it is my guitar. The front of the guitar had been horribly replaced, and the serial # was ground off the plate and replaced with a plastic # that is not one of Bruces serial #s. The gentleman bought the guitar off of ebay. The lister purchased the guitar in a pawn shop in North Texas. I have contacted the police dept so we can track down the perps. If this is actually my guitar I hate the fact that someone spent so much money on it, because I have very little to compensate with and didnt have insurance(yes this was stupid I know),, Anyway this is an update on this situation and my steel,,I will post more when more info becomes available. Thanks to everyone who kept up the prayers for my steel. I think they have been answered. Thankyou God
[This message was edited by Douglas Hudson on 08 November 2006 at 07:45 AM.]

[This message was edited by Douglas Hudson on 08 November 2006 at 08:17 AM.]

Doug, sure glad to hear some good news about your steel. Don't know why anyone would screw up something so nice looking just to get a couple of dollars. I hope that they can trace back to the thieves who stole it originally. If they can, I'll gladly pay for the new rope! Congrats Buddy! Ray

Doug, I always knew this steel would turn up somewhere. Anybody that knows you could see the pain on your face everytime this subject was brought up. You deserve to have this steel and let me know if it's going to take some cash to get it back because I would be happy to donate to raise some money to get it back to you. I'll be watching this post...

Doug, I pray that this turns out for you. I pity people that do things like this. They will get their just reward in the end. The steeler from Norway is a very fine person in my eyes. Let me know if I can help.

Hi folks!

I'm the guy who bought the guitar on eBay. Stupid me only figgured it out after I paid the money that the steel might have been stolen somwhere down the line. I had it sendt to Bruce to check, and at the same time found this post and thought it might be Douglas' guitar.

I'm glad Douglas gets his guitar back. Not to glad that I lost some money, but you learn as long as you live, and it's mostly my own fault. I won't have anything to do with a stolen guitar, but I would like to do something to the "#¤%"& Image who stole the guitar. Hopefully I'll get some of the money back during the legal prosess, if not I'll live happily anyway (the giggs in Norway pay well Image ).

Regards - Tore

I am sitting here dumbfounded and I shouldnt be because I know what kind of people you all are. You folks are the best human beings to walk on this fine earth that God has given to us. I love each and every one of you as I would love my own family. Tore you didnt have to email me, but yet you did risking personal loss of getting a Zum guitar and loss of money. I can't seem to come up with any words to say,, except God Bless you and God Bless the people on the forum. When the guitar was stolen, I had nothing, our band had many gigs to play. Yet guitars that are worth a lot of money and amps were loaned to me so I could continue working. I dont think I have been able to adequatly thank everyone.... I know that if it happens to a brother of mine, I would do anything to help them out. I am hoping that the gentleman that sold Tore the steel to refund him the money he paid for the guitar. If he doesnt then we will see what we can do. As of this time after my second call to Joplin PD, I am ,again waiting on a call from a detective to discuss this case.
Thanks My Brothers,
Douglas Hudson

Tore, its an honor and pleasure to see you post on here. I'm glad that Doug is getting his steel back but sorry that you are having a loss of money on it. When its all over with, let us know how much that you've lost and I'm sure that members of this forum will dig into their pockets and try to compensate you for your loss. It's just so good to find an honest person like you. God bless you and "Thanks" from a personal friend of Douglas's. Ray Qualls

Just spoke with Detective,,, He is going to go to Bruces to take pictures of the steel for prosecution purposes. The first wanted to confiscate the guitar,,, I objected and then he said he will try his best just to take pictures of the guitar. He seemed to be very willing to start tracking down the route of the guitar and who has had it. So hopefully we will be able to prosecute the person or persons that did this.

Tore,
Let me be the first fellow-Scandinavian to express how proud I am of you !

You did the right thing and it's so heart-warming to read this, as I still remember reading this thread when it was posted originally. I always hate to read about stolen equipment, but it was clear that this one really hurt as badly as it could.

I'll happily join in the campain to compensate you for your loss, so please keep us all posted on the progress !

Warm regards

Doug keep the faith I got my stolen Desert Rose back about 3 weeks ago that was stolen in December of last year. It was stolen out of my house on the West side of Phoenix and turned up in a flee market in San Jose, CA. It was bought by an honest man that called Chuck Back at Desert Rose who told him it was stolen and then he called me. It cost me $350 but that's OK I got it back. He paid $300 at the swap meet and $50 for the freight. I feel like a family member is back in AZ now.

Douglas, It's been a wild ride your Zum has taken, glad this issue is close to being resolved. Nothing worse than unresolved bizzzz.

Tore, that was a great thing you have done. If the world had more nice people like you it would be a very nice world! Image

Ray, I'm in, I'll email you. If everyone could send just a little to help, everyone would benefit!

Tore,
If you are not reimbursed on the Zum, count me in there with the rest of the gang. I'll pitch in. It's great to know there "ARE" still honest folks in this world like you!
Doug,
I can't begin to imagine how it felt to find you lost your Zum.
Glad it finally is coming home.
I talked to Bruce last Monday. My new D-10 Zum should be ready in 3 or 4 weeks.

I'm sure not all the details are in on this but I can pretty well bet when/if they find this guy he might get charged with something and ordered to pay for everything but I would predict he might pay a little 'Time' for best scenerio and getting any money back from this guy is going to be slim (court ordered or not). I wouldn't bet on it or count on it anyway. Nevertheless; if it boils down to waiting on the legal system to do its course, I would suggest that we get together and pay Tore back for doing his part and show how much we appreciate his efforts on this now. A lot of us want to help out so let us know where to send the checks too. Maybe Doug could give us a PO Box or an address to mail some checks too. I believe with all the support that wants to help out we could encourage other people to be like Tore and support this no tolerence in theft and maybe in the future a few more steels might find their way home.....
