Stolen guitar

UPDATE-------------Ok guys I am going to be picking the guitar up in the next few days. I have a ton of information for the Police when they can call me. Thanks to all of you and the Steel Guitar Forum. I will post more when the information is available.

Unfortunatly we have made it to September with no word on any of our equipment at all. So it is still out there folks.

This is one post I prayed that I would never have to make,,, but lastnight my Zum D-10 was stolen from The Paint Stallion nightclub in Joplin Mo. The guitar is red has split red and black front. Stupidly I left the instrument there because we were to play there tonight. Also taken was my nashville 1000 amp. 2 sp2 peavey speakers, $2000. worth of cymbals, lead players amp keyboard amp, all microphones bass guitar. I feel that I have lost my best friend. If someone sees the guitar please call the Joplin Missouri Police Deptment and let them know.

Douglas, I am very sorry to hear this. I will certainly be watching for your Zum and other gear in Northwest Arkansas.

So sorry to hear that. I know the feeling as I had some stuff stolen out of my music room a few months ago. Dang, a Zum though that's got to be sickening. We'll keep watch out around central Texas.

Doug,I know what kind of feeling this puts in your gut buddy,it happened to me back in 1979 with a 4 month old red D-10 Rus-ler with western ingraving all over the guitar.
They kicked my back door clean off the hinges
and got it all,just a real sick feeling.

Sorry something like this has happened, Doug.
I'm certain someone will try to turn the items at a pawn shop or flea mkt. and that's where they can be caught if the word is put out soon enough.

Here's a pic of Doug's stolen Zum.

This is the reason I never leave a Steel Guitar ANYWHERE on a 2 nighter. It always goes home with me. I have been known to leave a Amp sometimes except my Webb. The Peavey. . . .no problem. It can be replaced easier than the Guitars.

I have to say that the steel guitar community is the closest knit of any that I have ever seen. Thanks to everyone for your posts. It is now monday morning and I am at work.
I knew at 2:30 a.m. this morning that this had hit closer to home than I realized when my lovely wife of 28 years woke me up talking in her sleep. She was saying "we will get them and she will be home soon." I thought to myself how lucky can a man be to have someone who loves him so much, but also loves my love of steel guitar. I am truely blessed. My beautiful red guitar was not just an object or just an instrument to me or my wife. She, (my steel), was very patient waiting for me to find the licks that she already knew. We spent a lot of time together, red and I, and I miss her terribly. If the person that took her is reading this please take care of her!
I have to thank several people. Since the club owner could not find a replacement band, several local musicians and friends, and establishments, made sure the equipment was there for The Smith Brothers Band to finish the show for the weekend. Thanks to
Ray Qualls, Charlie Loveless, Larry, a very close friend of the Smiths, Glory Days Music of Joplin Missouri who loaned a brand new bass guitar, Tim for filling in on the drums, and Dan Bell for contacting my good friend Jerry Rich. To Jerry for loaning me his wonderful Zum guitar,(which he never loans to anyone!), to play the show saturday night. I know this is a long post but to everyone that posted thankyou so much for eveything. I do want to say yes, I have learned a lesson that will not be forgotten. If I ever see my beautful red again I will never leave her anywhere.
Now since in my years of playing music, I have never been able to insure my equipment. I am one of the millions of starving musicians out there. Someone please post a decent insurance company that will insure performing equipment. Most insurance companies that I have talked to will not insure equipment that is taken out of the home.
Thanks to all of you who each and everyone make up the steel guitar forum. You have been a source of inspiration, brotherhood, and friendship and HOPE!

Doug, just for curosity, did they tear the Zum down and put it in the case along with the pedal bar and rods or did they take it out all set up?

Thanks for the insurance thing. The guitar was taken set up. I have an empty case in my studio. I got my bar,, the took my picks. The nashville 1000 did not have a case for it.
