I have various noises that are coming through my stroboflip. I have a walker pre/power amp in a rack system with an m-one. This rack system has a 6 outlet extension cord in which I have a dd3 and stroboflip attached to it.
My problem is when I have the stroboflip turned off it makes a loud high pitched constant beeeeeeeeep noise. When it is turned on, I can hear the stroboflip through my walker cabinets. The sound I hear when it is turned on is similar to the sound of a korg ca30 guitar tuner when the sound button is pressed, which is an audible sound of every key.
I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems with their stroboflip. The latter sound bothers me the most

yeah - mine has a very similar problem
not to mention it introduces an enormous amount of hum into the signal, even after I lift the ground
lately I have been keeping it out of the signal path. Kind of a bummer considering how expensive it was.

I never leave my steel plugged into my strobo-flip when playing. I always tune before each set with the strobo-flip, and then touch-up by ear if necessary during a show.
I've heard you can send the tuner to the Peterson folks and they can do some kind of true bypass mod, for very little expense. I wish they had done this in the first place. It is a very good tuner in all other respects. |

I also have a ground loop gremlin in my rack amp.
I have to run my power in mono instead of stereo or I get a hum/buzz.
It has a Strobo rack tuner not that it has anything to do with it.

Is that while using batteries also? If it is only with a wall wort, it could be a grounding issue. Last Thursday at a local jam, the guitar player was introducing an awful obnoxious hum into the room from his amp. After determining it just wasn't his guitar playing, I found he was using a wall wort that didn't have a grounding prong. Reversing the plug solved the problem of his hum. Now I have to work on his playing and mine.
I've found that even isolated from the pickup by a 1meg ohm resister(The Beaver Mod), if left in the signal chain, the Stroboflip effects my sound very very slightly. I attribute that to the 36" cable I use to connect the Strobo and not the Strobo itself. A slight adjustment at the amp solved that for me. |

I don't think those tuners are true bypass, are they? I used one a while back, but never had it in the chain. The stroborack that I use now is a true bypass. I think I've heard Sue from Peterson can make an adjustment on the stroboflip to makeshift it a true bypass.

Supposedly, after a certain point, the mod that Sue did to Stroboflips was made to new units. Mine is supposed to be made after that point, but I can still hear some distortion in my amp that is not there when the tuner is not plugged in. I hooked it to the 2nd output of my Hilton and my Goodrich LDR2 pedals. Since my Carter rarely goes out of tune (with Jagwire strings), I usually don't have to tune again after I initially tune at the beginning of the night, so I leave it out of the mix.

I have had a similar thing happen when I use a Boss DD-3 with the stroboflip, and a Roland synth.
Try routing a second out cable from the Vol pedal to
the flip. or from the direct out on the DD-3 to the
flip. Some times these things don't like one-another.
I f I use the DD-3 before the Roland the DD-3 won't work, The Flip is quiet if routed from Vol pedal ,thru
Flip then DD-3 but no Roland. |
