Hi sir, Im playing a 1974 MSA Semi-Classic. I didnt have pedals on, but its basically E7th. And thanks sir. |

Nicholas,
I responded in your other thread and was assuming you played a standard E9th....Having heard you I believe the standard A, B and C configuration from the E9th tuning which raises the fifths a whole tone on one pedal and raises the thirds a half tone would be an advantage to your style.....the third pedal could raise the root note and fifth note a whole tone for some easier accessed blues pentatonic riffs. Enjoyed your playing.

Hi sir, I really don't know what my tuning is, I basically go by what my guitar player tells me. I don't know how to read music but I've been playing steel for 8 years and kinda need another one right about now. But, thanks for the comments and hopefully I can add some new videos soon.

| That Digitech will have an envelope filter in the "effects" section. They're not too sophisticated like a Mu-Tron or something, but they get the job done - "sensitivity" and "tone" knobs, and practice. |

A good Envelope Filter that flies under most people's radar is the Maxon AF-9. I have an original, but the reissue is nice as well. The circuit was licensed from MuTron and it's pretty much a MuTron running on 9V rather then 18V or what ever the MuTron ran on. I have compared mine side by side with a friend's original MuTron and the only difference I could hear was that the MuTron sustained notes slightly longer. Not something you'd even notice unless you were listening for it.
I've been listening to Sacred Steel for a few years now, but I recently got the bug to learn to play it. Thank's for posting your clips. Don't laugh, but I play musical saw and I hear similarities in the phrasing of it and the sacred steel stuff. It's very vocal and the vibrato is the key. |
