When i push in on my volume pedal it makes a bad crackling noise at first i thought it was my cables so i bought some george ls but that didnt fix it.I then thought it could be my amp but tried it with another amp and that didnt fix it either.does anyone know what my problem could be.

If it's a pot pedal, the pot is bad and needs to be replaced.

Perhaps it's a bad pot if it's a pot pedal. I believe that is what Jack meant, not a pot amp.

What kind of pedal (more specifically eluded to is it a pot pedal) if so, bad pot.
Not an uncommon thing especially with the unavailability of a good pots such as A/B or Clarostat was making MIL spec.

use it on another amp, if it scratches its the pot. Most players now have gone to the non pot type to avoid the constant replacement of pots and noise in the line.

For a while, Goodrich was having problems with inferior pots. Several people came on here telling of how the pots went bad in their new pedal after a small number of hours on it. So, yes it could be.

Bob, I wouldn't say most: many still stick with pots.
At a recent steel guitar jam of 16 steel players, I noticed only 6-7 active pedals.
