Actually I love playing both. My non pedal steels and
my D8 Pedal job. I started non pedal then left it.
Played pedals for a long while then in the late 90's came back to Lap Steels.I go back and forth these
days.

The above link starts with Lap Steel and then E9th
Pedal Steel. Same tune..

Great renditions of a great song!! Both pedal and non-pedal sound sooo.. good, but I'm a little pulled (no pun intended) towards the pedal sound. Love to hear the strings move with the pedals and knees.
