Drop foot
I had a bad case of drop foot after knee reconstruction surgery. The doctors put me in a brace for a while and I did extensive rehab and eventually everything came back to normal. The rehab worked wonders.

Acupuncture seems to help
a month of thrice weekly chiropractic adjustments and the fellow finally said that he didn't think that he could help me. At least he was honest about it.
So I've been trying acupuncture, and am getting a little bit of the movement back. The guys sticks 6 or 8 needles in the right leg and 3 or 4 in the right arm and then hooks some of them up with electrodes to a little batter pack thing that provides "electrostimulation". When it's on, it makes the toes wiggle...sort of a weird sensation.
Still can't play the steel though, and that is very frustrating.

I have never posted on here before so I hope this works right.I been trying for years to learn how to play pedal steel.I just had back surgury 2 months ago for drop foot on my left foot.The surgeon had to take a disk out & a bone fragment that was pressing on my spinal cord.Anyway I still havent seen much if any improvement.Doing PT & TENS type elect.shock.But I will still be trying them pedals till my last breath...Gene

Took several months, but drop foot is disappearing
Well, after several months and several hundred dollars in medical treatment bills, my case of drop foot is about 75% mended.
It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the chirporactor, or the accupuncturist...I had pretty much given up on the thing when one day last week my lower leg started hurting a fair bit, a "stretching" sort of issue. I spent several days with my toes on the edge of a step, dropping my heel waaaay down low, and the control slowly started coming back.
Now I can depress the volume pedal and can actually control it's ascent back to silence. Thanks for all the input and advice on this. It's good to be back playing steel again.
