When Sarah was about 14, she visited Scotty's convention and after they heard her play, they put her on the big stage. She is that phenomenal. I have 2 of her albums she cut as a teen. Just type her in on YouTube and get ready for some really great entertainment! She's able to perform again now with her band after completing 6 years with Eric Clapton. (Uh, Van Morrison. Thanks Roger)

I think it was Van Morrison she played with, not Clapton.

Bo, I am familiar with Lebanon, Missouri, having spent many of my weekends there when I was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in 1950-51, especially at the skating rink at the west end of town.

I played steel in a band at the Wagonwheel near Waynesville, but was acquainted with the fine people in Lebanon, one of which became my wife of now 60 years, and the kinship of many fine in-laws.

It was "old 66" in those days, not the interstate, and I drove many hair-raiseing miles on old 66 to my music job at the Wagonwheel, and to visit my future wife in Lebanon.

In those days when a highway sign in Missouri said "curve ahead" it was to be respected or suffer the consequences.

It is easy to play the steel guitar. Playing so that the audience finds it pleasing is the difficult act.

Lynn, I was at the show when Sarah played at age 14. The highlight of her performance on the big stage was when Buddy took off his bowler hat and put it on Sarah. Great player, great ladie. Jody.

Oh my goodness. I would have loved to seen that! I know she is so blessed with talent. To be able to accomplish what she did at such a young age! And from England yet. I would love to learn how she even became familiar with PSG. Truly a phenom!!!! She was born to play steel for sure.

Wouldn't you know the Skating Rink is now a furniture store and all the bar stages have long ago been torn doun and replaced with Jukebox and big screen TV. Route 66 is potholes and deadends. Still there are some very good folks and great Steel Players that live around this area.

Fort Leonard Wood was a lifetime ago. As an Army Reservist, I have dug up a lot of ground and rocks on the south side of the base.

I was a heavy equipment operator/instructor, (Cat D-6 & 8's) with the 486th Engineer Battalion. Have some really great memories of that place...."Boy were those Summers Hot".

I recently corresponded with her booking agent - Sarah is eager to get back to doing festival work. It would be great to get her back to the states for a round of steel shows. I've spent many hours perusing her YouTube videos and she is not only a great steelie, but also a superb entertainer who can lead the show and give the audience what it wants to hear.

Yeah, that's really nice. Smooth and lovely tone. That's the kind of video that will really help with consumer perception of pedal steel!

Been listening to this for a week now and it always seems to move me. I think it is an exceptionally well done song from every aspect of it's structure. Well written and well played, it is filled with emotional phrases and changes. The last song to so move me was by Buddy Emmons and I would say she well deserved that Derby Gift from him !!

Regards, Paul
