First of all Thanks to Larry, and Harley and all others that helped with this great steel Jam.This Jam was done with Band in a Box backup which worked very well. Here are some Photos of the Players, Hope we got everyone!

I hope we got a photo of everyone, a good time was had by all.There were a lot of steel guitar items for sale, a great opportunity for everyone. All of Eric West's equipment was for sale, very sad not to have him here with us. I Purchased one of his old Guitars Just for the Memories, there are more still available if anyone is interested.Thanks to Kathy for taking all the great photos.

Big fun, thanks to the organizers and the Elks for hosting us, and to all of the photographers who recorded the event for posterity. We had a few "interesting' moments with the BIAB rig but there were no fights with the band this time and that is considered a very good thing...

Here are some Photos of the old Sho-Bud Pro III that belonged to Eric West. There is a date of 1978 engraved in the end of the changer. His mom said he played it for many years, Sure looks like it has been played. I plan to clean it up and put it back to playable condition.

Seems to be missing a few parts, and one of the Knee levers is a Table Knife Handle. I can just Imagine some of the stories this guitar could tell!

Bob I once told Eric he was not allowed to bring that guitar into the club, is was a disgrace to all of the steel guitar community.

Even with dead as a door nail strings he still made it sound good.

Dave the third player in your "Emmons" trio is Mark Simpson.

Sorry I did not get to spend more time with you and Paul but I had a lot to think about. I would love to see you play when you come to Portland but I am working most weekend also.

Thanks to all who attended we had the most relaxed time of any jam in history, no pressure to "keep up with the Jones's", (not a refection on our main man Doug Jones) just play, it was great.

Using BIAB worked well for us, I too miss the live band but in the bigger picture it was a success, no one packed up their gear and left, they did dug in a played.

Debbie Hershman and Kenny Sawyer showed interest in playing bass and drums next time, they have worked with many of the steelers in the past and would be happy to support the jam.

All in all a good day, we are all still above ground and God is good.

Thanks to Larry and everyone who helped set this up. Talk about a humbling experience, you're all such great players. Thanks for listening to me stumble through my parts. That extra fast vibrato wasn't on purpose (it was my hands trembling).

Chris - It was cool to hear some of those sounds coming out of your lap steel. I swear some of your rides sounded like there were pedals involved (especially on good hearted woman).

I grow as a musician every time I attend one of these jams. Sure, I spend time practicing, but, It's being surrounded by great talent that helps me grow. It's listening to others, that helps me play better.

Andy - You also created nice sounds with your pedal steel! I listen to a lot of Lloyd Green, and try my best to imitate some of his licks on lap steel. Thanks for noticing that dude!

While it was fun to hear the road warriors sharing their recent discoveries, I was particularly delighted to hear players of every level taking chances they might not necessarily take in another setting, to a large extent putting the rank beginners and the crusty veterans on the same level, as any missed notes incurred along the way became part of an enjoyable collective adventure rather than an embarrassing individual mistake.

I guess that's what makes this a brotherhood!

Paul thanks for posting the vid on utube and thanks a tone for coming all the way down from Seattle to play with us, do it again.

Dave you are right on the money, it is all about the brotherhood not the playing. I have been here playing for 40 years, many of us grew up together over that time, sharing licks and gear ideas almost weekly.
