Making last minute preps for the trip up. Really looking forward to the show. We're leaving around midnight Thursday and stopping on the way to give a lesson then heading to the hotel for a nap then on to the Electric Park Ballroom for the Friday night jam. We had a blast the last time we were there and we know it will be the same this time.
See y'all this weekend!

Awww, come on Rog, we all know you'll be at the top of your game this weekend on both lead and steel as usual. The folks need to come by and hear your outstanding house band -- Mark Wayne (bass), Jimmy Willis (drums), and Glenn Runnels (fiddle).
It'll be a great show w/ Mike Sweeney and Scotty headlining, plus 25-30 competent steelers from the Midwest.

Thank You, Thank You!!!
Teresa and I want to say a great big "Thank You" to Lefty and Kirk, their families and the guys in the band for another great show. We truly love coming to Waterloo. The crowd was great as were the other players. We always look forward to seeing the friends we've made over the years. Some of the nicest people anywhere. We're already looking forward to the next time we can be there!

Steel Show
We (Lonesome Fugitive & Danny Hedlund) all had a great time listening to all the talented steel players and musicians. Met some really nice people and made new friends. I hadn't been to the show for a few years. Hope we can come back again.

Our "Jump Start Program" yielded 4 really good steelers who, by this time next year, will be far beyond this point. Rick McCarty was a student taught by Russ Wever in Kansas City. That is why the jump start program is a success, people who want to learn tuaght by people who will teach, and being a part of the steel guitar community. Nathan, Abbie, and Kelsey and Rick played some music that was above any starter music and played it like pros. The fire in the eyes, and the excitement really captivated these people and they are fired up even more.

Ditto, Roger! The Jump Start segment was great with the four students demonstrating they had learned a great deal in just one year. I was proud of all four of them, Nathan, Abbie, Kelsy (Grammer/Hammer), and Rick. The standing ovations given by the audience during their playing speaks volumes regarding how they support the Jump Start Academy. As mentioned during this segment, it is our goal to "Give Now, and Touch The Future". I really feel we have begun to touch the future of steel guitar w/ our program and wish other steel shows would offer something similar. Just think how this could impact steel guitar nationwide!
