Just a ballpark figure, now this could be a problem since there are many manufactures of pedal steels, and then there's the single neck and a double neck, 3 pedals, 4 pedal, 10 pedals. lots of knee levers, etc, etc.
One thing for sure a Black Mica D-10 has the most parts, I know I own 2, a EMCI & Franklin.
Opps forgot, there's a push pull & all pull steel.
What about a right handed vs left handed pedal steel.
So guys get started and count those parts on your steel. Lets see what steel has the most parts.

Hold the mustard Chris, are you referring to a bird's eye view or a worm eye view?
Also, do not include the case or leg pouch, picks, bars, amps, ash trays, bud lite cans...........

I was beginning to count in my head the parts used to make different versions of push pulls, and I reminded myself that if I did not focus so much about the underneath part, I would be better at the top part. _________________ Chris Lucker

Which guitar the Sierra has about 800 in the changer alone - it is safe to say all changers have 4 or 5 per string plus 6 minimum per change (knee lever or pedal) plus ----- you get the idea

Who has that much time?
There are probably a thousand!
A ballpark estimate: less parts than a piano, but way more than a cowbell.

Pedals, levers, and strings. Also tuning keys and rods. Nowadays that's all I want to pay attention to anymore. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

just to contribute my ridiculous input to a ridiculous thread, keep in mind that the wound strings each are made of 3 parts..core, winding and ball end. |

On a D-10 Emmons Wraparound with an 8-4 Emmons set up and a rear apron and the new changer design with the narrower fingers and washers between the fingers I count 1189 parts counting set screws for shaft collars and stuff like that.
That does not include the case. I do not know how many parts are in a case. _________________ Chris Lucker

An Emmons push pull bellcrank has seven parts to it alone. _________________ Chris Lucker
