The American Bass Angler's Tournament Trail (formerly the Military Bass Angler's Association) will be hosting a Salute to the Screaming Eagles (101st Airborne Division) at Paris Landing State Park, Paris, Tennessee. The day will start off with the ABA conducting a fishing tournament for the soldiers of the 101st. At 6:00 pm a USO style show will be held. The list of performers are as follows: Jerry Reed, Porter Wagoner, Tanya Tucker, Little Jimmy Dickens, Bobby Bare and Brian White. There will also be performances by Miss American Deidra Downs, Miss Tennessee 2006 Blaine Pancake, Miss Kentucky 2006 Rachelle Phillips, Miss Alabama 1997 Beth Stomps, Miss Alabama 1995 Leigh Sherer, Miss Alabama 2004 Shannon Camper, Miss Alabama 2003 Catherine Crosby and Miss Alabama 2000 Jana Sanderson. Thanks for the notice. I'll try to go and visit with my former unit [ Viet Nam era] Also hope Jerry Reed is picking again. I have heard his hands are doing better.

My oldest brother, Raymond Stafford, was a member of the 101st during WW2. Among his specialized training, he was their boxing champiion when they were "having fun". Really proud of this organization. My Dad, Calvin Andrew, was machine gunned in WW1 and was able to come back home. He demonstrated to all in his family his love for this USA. I retired from the U.S. Navy - Korea and Viet Nam veteran-so my appreciation for all our service members tops my list. Thanks to all who serve and have served.

My father was one, too, and he was in at the same time as James Marshall Hendrix.

I am planning on going up to Paris Landing on the 14th of October. I am gonna help run the bass tournament. I donated a rod, reel and tackle box to a soldier of the 101st, so he or she can have their on rig for the bass tournament. I am looking forward to that day and evening. I am glad to see that some of the greats of country music are gonna be there. Thanks for your comments and support of our soldiers, both the ones here in the US and those who are serving in some Godforsaken country.

I talked to Morris Sheehan the President of the ABA this morning and told him that because of some things I have going on this weekend that I will not be able to come up to help run the bass tournament and see the show afterwards. Morris told me that I was gonna miss a fun time. He said that Senator Bill Frist, the Governor of Tennessee and Five (5) Generals from the Pentagon will be at the Salute to the 101st. There will also be a large contingent of media present which will include Fox news, the Outdoor Channel, the local ABC and NBC affiliates as well as some radio stations from around the US. The ABA will be donating 200 rods and reels to the soldiers of the 101st. I heard about an hour ago that a new Triton Tr 21 will be given away via drawing to some member of the 101st. For those folks who live in and around the Kentucky and Tennessee area and do not have any plans for Saturday I would ask that you consider going to Paris Landing, Tn and say thank you to all the soldier's of the 101st. Take care and I hope that each of you have a great day. I also hope that one day soon that all soldiers, marines and airmen serving in the middle east come home safely.
