Sure gonna miss you buddy! My thoughts and prayers go out the all the family and a host of good friends. This is a huge loss for many, including the steel guitar world. Red shared his love and support for the steel and it's players like no one else! His energy was boundless!

I found this picture of Red and Curt Shoemaker at a show a few years ago. I wanted to share it will everyone as this picture pretty much "tells it all" of how much genuine passion and enthusiasm Red had for the steel guitar.

Rest in peace my friend.
Love, Lorraine

This is truly terrible news. A great singer with true love for the steel guitar. A great entertainer and just a plain old nice guy. I will miss him terribly at the Dallas show as we would talk railroad since I too am an engineer.

I for one am caught totally off guard with Red's passing. May Jesus and God the father welcome Red to the heavenly jam sessions with open arms. He will be missed here on Earth.

My heart and prayers go out to Red's family that God will see them through this horrible time.
Keep pickin', Larry

This a real shock.
He seemed to be doing well when I talked with him in Dallas. Even bought a ShoBud hat from him.
It will mean all the more to me now.
What a great guy. Always had a smile for everyone.

I simply can not believe it. Just still think I can give him a call. Just do not know what to say.

I'm so sorry to hear that - he seemed to be rallying so well. I wish I had been there in St. Louis to see him in action for what turned out to be the last time. My condolences to family and friends. Thanks Red, for all the tunes.

We have lost such a Great friend. Even if you didn't know Red you could call him your friend. That is how Amazing this guy was...

Talked with Linda, he had undergone a kemo treatment, and started to get a fever and did not want to go to the Hospital all week. Linda finally made him go on Saturday and they found that ALL of his blood was full of infection. He later just passed. He was so full of infection there was nothing they could do.

Rest in Peace good Buddy. I know things are better for you now.

I will really miss Red's terrific and upbeat spirit, his singing, and his infinite love for the steel guitar and its players. Red, I'll think of you fondly every time I don one of your cool Sho-Bud ball caps! RIP, my friend.
