Jon Graboff... great!

Post by Michael Douchette »

Had the chance to meet and visit with Jon tonight in AZ, at the Shooter Jennings/Troy Olsen gig. What a consummate gentleman, and an awesome player. He made that Show Pro of his sound terrific. If you ever get a chance to see and hear him, take it! It's well worth it. One of the nicest dudes I've ever met.

Count me in on accolades for Jon........I remember several years ago Jon playing at the PSGA show.....he played a hauntingly beautiful tune by the Beach Boys.....hauntingly beautiful.....

I think the name of it was Girl Alone......I've always remembered Jon's stellar performance....and a nice person....

I got to see Jon w/ Ryan Adams and the Cardinals in Montreal few years back. Killer show. We chatted afterwards at length. Great guy. Hey Jon, hope you're well!

Howard, the Beach Boys song I performed at the Norwalk steel show was "Surfer Moon". I also played a great tune called "Girl All Alone" by Tommy Hannum which I copped from his record "Not Rocket Science". That show was quite a while ago and your memory is pretty impressive. Just about all I can remember was how nervous I was! ha!

I know it's not your rendition, Jon, but for those of us who wanted to hear this tune, here it is ...

Barry, Thanks for posting a link to Tommy's song. This is a very cool song and I wonder why other steelers haven't picked up on it. It's a very worthy substitute for "Sleep Walk" and though I love that song dearly, I think we've heard it enough! Just kidding of course, but it does have a similar vibe and is really fun to play.

I just heard this tune for the first time, and I love it. I don't understand why other steelers haven't picked it up also. Can a guy get the tab and track for this? I would love to learn this one.

Great job playing this.

The guitarist on "Girl Alone" is obviously an Amos Garret fan...

Ryan Adams was interviewed recently on Serius Outlaw Country. He spoke of Jon. Pretty cool when the pedal steel player has that much impact on an artist's material.
