I haven't been on the forum for a while, so apologise if this has been posted before, but listen to this... My god, this man is great... Theres a few licks to learn here, in fact as it gets near the end, he is really letting himself go with licks I have never heard before anywhere. Also, there some beautiful pictures of George Jones and family, with some great pictures of Georgette. fantastic stuff. Listening to this does get me in the mood for learning more steel. And it's obviously live. So where was it recorded?

Enjoy it.......

Masterful. What taste! What fine touch!
The quality had me fooled into thinking it was a studio recording until I head the applause..

Yes....pure magic and I only realised it was live when I heard the applause, and as you say, towards the end he really does open up....sounded like a whole bunch of levers pulling Smile ... he's totally amazing and from interviews I've seen on the net, a very modest man, as are all the greats of the steel world.

Is Tommy White in the SGHOF? Doesn't Buddy Emmons call him "killer"? I sure wish that I play that well and have the knowledge that Tommy has acquired.

What he does between 2:32 and 2:50 is enough reason to call him killer. Awesome. The album version is really good too.

David, it's been awhile since I've been on here too, so it's kinda funny that I heard this version of Tommy Whites just yesterday and emailed it to my Dad, cause it just blew me away...I need to figure out how to grow 10 more fingers and a couple more knees, and perhaps a bigger brain!!! Tommy would be my first choice of all modern day players. I'm an Emmons fan to the bone, and Tommy in the same league.

We have lost so many of our Steel Guitar Greats, what a blessing it is to still have people like Tommy White. Playing like this is such an "inspiration" go us all!

First, I sincerely thank you one and all for being so kind with your glowing compliments! I really appreciate them, as they mean so much to me.
Secondly, I'm positive that was recorded at Scotty's "International Steel Guitar Convention" in 2001 just after the release of my "By Request" CD which contains my original version of that tune.
Lastly, I have no idea as to who assembled and posted on Youtube the collage video to compliment my live performance. I was not pleased with my performance and wish whomever is responsible hadn't posted on Youtube without my permission Crying or Very sad Oh well, you can't un-ring the bell. Confused

Tommy,
I wish i could play your bad licks, if ever any, as good as you do!

I agree that whomever should ask you if they can post something you have done before its posted.

I have a few clips of Tommy and Mike Johnson at the SHOW PRO open house Jeff put on 2 years back and i will tell you that Tommy and Mike killed Ramblin Fever.

I also have more but i ask Tommy if i could post it and he ask me to respect his wishes and not post it as i have done.

Its called respect and if we work to gain the integrity deserved the professional players would be more gracious at allowing thse type clips to be posted.
Just my take and i am in no way speaking for anyone.

Tommy, you are a blessing too me and to be around in the times that you are absolutly the best player i know is, awesome!
