DIY keyless tuners?

I am interested in making my own keyless tuners for my next lap steel project.

Do any of you have a simple diagram of how they are shaped, and how they function?

I have some good machine tools and some experience in cutting drilling and tapping etc. and I figure I will use aluminum which is easier to work than steel...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Dom,,,the ones I make and use are VERY similar to Joe Klines (Kline Guitars),,,,very simple and effective. I'll be glad to show you what they look like,,,may be a few days as I have just moved and will need to draw a diagram, scan and get it to you.
