Good luck with it Fred, I'm sure you'll be pleased. What a great feeling it was to pick up the Stage One from the post office, unpack it and set it up. I didn't tell my wife I had ordered a steel guitar. When she saw it, instead of saying "What the heck is that" she asked "Why didn't you get a double neck?" Ha ha!

And the correct answer is, "All of them, honey!"

These guitars are great. They sound as good as any pro guitar and you can play anything on 3 & 5 that is needed to make a buck as Mike D. has proven. In looking at the current affordable or budget single necks that are available the Stage One is in ever way the best bang for the buck. $949 vs &1,995 to 2,295 depending on the brand. Yes some of the others have split tuning or polished end plates or a full size aluminum neck. To me when you say budget guitar that means less than $1,500 especially since in this economy used guitars are not nearly as expensive as they were five years ago. If I were in the market for a fly guitar or even another guitar for the bus I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to order a Stage One.

Yes these are outstanding guitars --- and a recent entry into the same market, even looks almost identical but doesn't have the nice ali neck - and it's twice the price !

I picked up my new Stage One today and have been playing it all evening. Man this is one sweet little guitar. Light as a feather and it plays smooth as butter and stays in place solid as a rock with no sway or movement when using knee levers. The pedals and levers are easy to press and engage and the tone is exactly what I've been looking for. I am totally psyched about having this!

I've been playing mine last couple of nights because I'm flying out tomorrow.
It takes some getting used to the different setup than my Rains.
It really is a nice playing guitar. Very smooth and accurate. Has the tone too.
My only suggestion to any users, is to purchase extra wing nuts for the pedal rod attachment. They are not captive and they are small, so if you drop one while setting up backstage somewhere, you are screwed (so to speak)...

Michael, your sound clips linked on the Stage One Site are outstanding! I especially like your phrasing on "Lord, I Hope this Day is Good." This is a guitar I will keep in mind if I ever start playing out again for those quick E9 gigs. If it would lower the 6th string instead of raising the 7th, then I might buy one today!

Frank, thanks. I did those really quickly, at home so Doug would have something, anyway. I would like to do them in a proper setting.
Talk to Doug about a 6th lower; it may be possible. I don't know.

Matthew you're going to be pleased. I have had mine now for two weeks and I'm still flying. I can't believe I waited so long to get this thing. My previous guitars were older and I didn't realize new steels play so smoothly, and the Stage One is so smooth, so light and inexpensive. You'll be able to tell right away that it is solid and put together very well.
