Anyone played one of these Chinese made Australian blackwood guitars? I know quality control can be a problem on Chinese instruments, but sometimes they can be quite amazing. Interested in how this compares to other Hawaiian guitars in its price range.

I bought one about 1 1/2 years ago, when Gold Tone got their first production batch in. I live in Florida, so I drove to their facility in Titusville, and was able to try them all and get my pick of the litter. To my ears, it sounds much better than their mahogany LM and SM models. It's got that mellow Weissenborn sound I was looking for. I've got mine set up with an L.R. Baggs M1 pickup and it sounds great. I'd love to some day have a real 20's era Weissenborn, or a Tony Francis reproduction, but for now this fills the bill for me.
