You might find this question ridiculous …… for me it’s serious.
I am Swiss. There was something to be fixed on my Mullen with the help of skype.
My major problem doing this was not the handwork but my lack of understanding of the steel – specific words
Therefore I decided to try to learn them in English.
I only have a picture which names the major parts.
Does somebody have a link where a Steel guitar is shown and all the parts are named? _________________ Mullen Pre-RP D10, Emmons D10, Mullen G2 SD10, Dobros |

Sounds funny but I don't even know the German names for a lot of those parts... if you're in doubt about something specific, I'll be glad to help you out. |

ush, I spent some time studying these pages: I should have done this last year, when I started playing! How interesting: I know a bit from everything but not the whole thing.
@ Tony, who answered my question concerning prickling hands: Physiotherapy starts tomorrow... _________________ Mullen Pre-RP D10, Emmons D10, Mullen G2 SD10, Dobros |

wow, Frederic, I am delighted, great side. It has been added to my favourites, as well as the links I got before. I will have no excuses from now on if I can't name every little screw on my guitar _________________ Mullen Pre-RP D10, Emmons D10, Mullen G2 SD10, Dobros |

Hats off to our fellow steelers! I'm still amazed that this instrument has found its way around the world and is loved and accepted by those who you wouldn't otherwise believe would appreciate its beauty. You all make me proud and humbled! |

@ Dennis: I am honnoured to receive this musical heir - having the possibility to learn to play the pedal steel. There's nothing like the sound of a steel guitar...... anyway: have you ever been in the swiss montains and heard the sound of a alphorn?
@ Frederic: Thanks - I will think about it... I joined several forums, right now trying to get active in this one....... I am afraid I am spending soon more time chatting around than practicing
Frederic, I listened to your lovesick Blues. Loved it!!! _________________ Mullen Pre-RP D10, Emmons D10, Mullen G2 SD10, Dobros |

Posted 10 Sep 2011 7:43 am Hi Ruth & Frederic!

Nice to hear from my Brother & Sister across the pond. No, never been to the Alps, but there is always that opportunity ahead. I have enjoyed a lot of good chocolate, wine and cheese from your respective countries. As I said before, I am humbled and honored that you have found the beauty in this unique instrument that brings us together, and that you can appreciate the music that was part of its development. This Forum is one of the finest venues for bringing us all together. Never before would I believe that there could be such sharing of knowledge and information between professionals and neophytes, such as myself. I have made many good friends since making the decision to play the pedal steel. I only wish I been been led to the psg many years earlier. The one thing that brings us together also makes us friends. I can't fully explain this, but it's a wonderful feeling. If you ever need anything, just ask! |

Thanks for your nice words, Dennis. Guess we know that feeling you describe.... The Forum is really a good oppotunity to share thoughts, one can't share with the "every-day-world" around us. (none of my family can give me links to PSG sites, they won't hear my stories about humming tuners, broken strings, different guitars......)
I will surely ask my questions here, at least most of them: some I think are too embarrassing like the one in this topic - but see, it was worth the venture, I got helpful hints _________________ Mullen Pre-RP D10, Emmons D10, Mullen G2 SD10, Dobros |

Dennis, you've perfectly summarized what a lot of people in this forum think. Thanks again
to b0b to give us this oppotunity to share our passion.
Ruth, thanks for your appreciation. See you very soon on one forum or another or maybe in Charlieu in april 2012. _________________ Fred
