Jazz Room Players

Post by Jim Stahlhut »

Well this year I'm early. There was so much interest in the Jazz Room this year that it filled up quickly. We have our first international player since Bob Taillefer played the first year. This is our 6th year. The players are: Doug Jernigan (I'm so glad to have him on the show again he's such a pleasure to play with), Dave Easley (an incredible player and close friend), Mike Sweeney (he blew the doors off of it last year, wow!), Jim Cohen (another great player and friend), Russ Wever (he's a long time friend of mine and one killer player), and Jan Jonsson (he sent me mp3s of the stuff he's going to do and wow DON'T miss his spot he's great). See you all there it's 10am to 2 pm Saturday September 3rd, 2011 at the ISGC. Kyle Honeycutt will be playing drums and Bob DeBoo the acoustic bass, they've played it every year. And of course me on guitar.
Thanks,
Jim

Jan is a great player, very creative and original. I'm looking forward to hearing him and all the other players this year. Here's a taste: Waltz for Elma

Very glad to see Jan added to the lineup this year. He's a super player. I have several videos of him posted over at www.steelguitarjazz.com

Since he is from Sweden, and rarely comes to the USA, don't miss this occasion to catch him live.

Hi!

Thanks for all the kind words regarding my participation in the Jazz Room this year. I can't thank Jim C and Jim S enough for inviting me to this great event, which I've only been able to follow from a distance so far (via YouTube clips). I'm really looking forward to meeting you all face to face, and to performing together with the amazing trio that Jim S has put together.

See you all in St Louis!

The jazz room is a highlight of my trip to st. louis, i only wish the players had a longer time-frame. 30 min is good, but 45 would be great.

Thank you Jim. I'll definitely be looking forward to this if I'm able to make it over to St. Louis this year. I do love me some jazz. I love to play it and hear it played on psg too.

Well Barbara and I are in St. Louis visiting with my Mom and sister Nancy. We can't wait to get down to the Convention this weekend and play the main stage with Chuck Lettes and of course, the Jazz Room will be a great musical adventure. See you there.

You all have a great time Jim, I'm not going to be there again this year. I know the Jazz room will be great.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, as well as some older MSAs, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Recently added a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored blue Rose, named the "Blue Bird" to the herd. Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic again that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also added a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks.

Got my steel radio fired up with a good set of speakers, looking forward to a great way to spend the morning/afternoon listening to the best steel that will be played in St Louie this year---and the best back up band.
Have at it Boys!!

The Jazz room couldn't have been better and the band was a big part of it. The featured players, to say the least were wonderful. By it self it was worth my one-day round trip drive from Indianapolis.
