I would like to make mention A Special Thanks to Donna and Tommy Dodd for providing a Champagne toast to b0bby Lee at the Carter Booth Forum picture taking. He certainly deserves that salute for all he has done for so many and the Steel Guitar. Also it was nice to meet Ann and John who each year gather the Forum members for the photo shoot. Look for the photo on their web site soon. Sure hope Smiley lost that infernal machine.

Tommy and Donna are two of our greatest ambassadors for the steelers. Seems like the Lord always makes a way for Tommy to be on the show when he's not even sceduled.
Maybe somebody's trying to tell us something.Tommy enjoys playing and you can tell it. His albums are always great. They get my vote too.

Tommy & Donna are two wonderful friends of mine, and I'm so glad to know them. Back in 2004, they both helped me to start playing steel shows and Tommy and I share the stage to do some songs together and Donna is just wonderful! Tommy & Donna, I love y'all! Donna & Tommy: This was the first time for me to meet you both. Donna you are just as wonderful in person as you are on the forum. Your heart and personality can't be beat! Tommy, Roy & I really enjoyed your playing and I still want a CD!!! Donna, let's continue to stay in touch. We had a wonderful time at the convention. Bob, you deserved that toast! You have done so much for all of us without fail and we have you to thank for all the friendships that have become like family to us! I can't say enough about you either. Thank you for all your hard work and this forum. We now have friends all over the world because of you. If you didn't come to the ISGC this year, you missed the time of your life! What a show! Scotty and his family all work very hard too to put this show on! May God Bless all of you for your tireless efforts at the ISGC and on this forum. Hugs and love to all with many, many thank you's. I too must echo what everyone else has said about Tommy and Donna. They are both just "good folk". I was talking to Tommy when everyone toasted but hey, I was somewhat already toasted so it didn't really matter. |

It was great running into Chris "Tiny " Olson again formally the Steeler for years with Gene Watson and now Commander Cody. It would be nice to see Tiny on the big stage next year. I believe Tiny will be a new face on the Forum photo. |

Our thanks to all of you who’ve made the nice comments above. Donna and I are very blessed to have some great friends in the steel guitar community and really enjoy the time we get to spend with them at these shows. And of course the ISGC is the “Grandaddy” for renewing old friendships and acquaintances and just “catchin’ up” with each others’ lives.
I was very saddened to hear about Dixie Mullen’s accident and like everyone else at the convention was praying for a miraculous and speedy recovery. And, I was honored when asked to fill in for Del in his spot opening the day of playing on Saturday morning. The crowd was very kind to me but there was definitely a hush of concern and everyone had Del and Dixie on their minds and in their hearts. Donna and I had them on our minds and in our prayers all weekend, too.
I don’t know about being “ambassadors” for the steel guitar community. I just know we are very fortunate and blessed to have lots, and lots, of good friends that we’ve met through the love of the steel guitar. It started a long time ago and hope it never ends.

It was just so rewarding to meet new friends and visit with so many long-time friends. Many of whom I haven't seen in years. That would include Joe and Tommy.
I agree with you Joe, Tommy and Donna are truly great folks and represent the steel guitar community with class. You do so also Joe.
Thanks guys.
Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson |
