Supro Comet B&W Console Lap Steel

Post by Doug Freeman »

Selling a nice Supro Comet black and white 6-string console lap steel, as pictured. I never had the legs, case, or pickup cover for it. Tuner buttons have been replaced with StewMac vintage white ones. Light to moderate wear, some rust on the pickup/bridge assembly. This is one of the loudest and proudest Supro string-though pickups I've ever heard. A real screamer. Can't go wrong for $295 plus shipping and PayPal.

This one appears to be going to Mr. Grange.

Well I am happy to see some interest in this. I have one exactly like it and also have never had the pickup cover. Mine belonged to my Dad and we spent many many happy times playing music with each other as I was growing up. I could never sell mine for that reason...but it was really cool seeing this one up for sale.

Another good thing about this model is the string length. It's 23", which I think is a little longer than the other Valco-made guitars. It's going to a good home and will get put to some good use, that's for sure.

Gotta say I love these Supros....I have this model as well, but as an 8 string and with the legs intact. It is a VERY strong pickup...matter of fact, I have to turn down amps when I plug in as it is waaaaaaaay hot. But in a good way!! Someone will be getting a very nice steel for sure

And for the record, my Bronson Singing Electric is a 23" scale too, so nevermind my prior post. I'm assuming all the Valco/Supro guitars are the same. The Comet just LOOKS (and somehow feels) longer.
