time to ask the experts

Post by Aaron Wayne »

I met a guy once, named "Rusty" (why do so many of us have nicknames?) who was some kinda old time pro, and he played with a thumbpick and 3 finger picks. When I asked him why, since most use just 2 finger pics, he said "it's a perfectly good finger, why waste it". But I use that finger to make harmonics sometimes. What dus ya'll think?

I learned with 2 finger picks but always encourage new players to start out with 3. After all, you'd never tell a new piano student to only use 8 of his fingers instead of 10. And there are other ways to get harmonics.

Now if only I would pratice what I preach... :(

Yes I would, Jim. 8 fingers, and 2 thumbs.
