IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE A SINGLE STOP LEVER TO A DOUBLE STOP LEVER? I HAVE A OLDER DECKLEY AND WANT TO DROP THE SECOND STRING FORM D# TO D BUT ALSO TO C#..IS THERE A WAY TO DO THIS? IM LOOKING FOR INFO ON THIS MATTER(PLEASE).... I KNOW COULD GET EXTRA ROD AND HOOK TO A DIFFERANT LEVER BUT WONDERING IF SOMEWAY TO DO ON JUST THE ONE LEVER?? RICK DOBROPLAYING@YAHOO.COM

You should probably post this in the PEDAL STEEL section for more visibility.
A lot of guitars use a second rod on the 9th string and time the pull so it starts to engage when the second string is at a D note. This would require another bell crank and rod.
Outside of some mechanical stop that the lever itself hits to add resistance, the extra rod way is probably your best bet.

Richard, a dedicated mechanical half-stop is the best solution, you can really dial that half stop in accurately. Timing it to the 9th string lower is dicey, in my experience, and never as accurate as I demand. My Mullen has a mechanical device, works perfectly.
Carters have a cool built in 11th finger that provides half stops on any string you choose, very ingenious solution from designer Bud Carter.

Like John says (how ya doin' John?), a dedicated mechanical stop would be best. I would like to find a good idea to try on my Carter.
I have a Carter with the "11th" finger for half stops. While this is a great feature (in theory), if you have the changes on your right knee along with any pulls on the C6th neck, you will feel various points at where the half stop engages and the other pull(s) on the C neck. Drives me nuts. The added convenience of the 11th finger is, that it has 2 holes for rods and you can add a second half stop as I did on my C6th LKR (raising string 4 to B and a half stop at Bb).
