We Have A Meeting Place For The North Texas/ Okla.Steel Club
UPDATE; WE HAVE FOUND A PLACE TO HAVE OUR MEETINGS IN GAINESVILLE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE A PART OF THIS, PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL TO geewhizmark@gmail.com SO I CAN GET A MAILING LIST TOGETHER, AND LET ME KNOW WHAT TIME OF DAY OR NIGHT WOULD BE GOOD FOR YOU TO ATTEND THIS GATHERING OF STEEL PLAYERS.
WE SHOULD HAVE A LOT OF FUN AND LEARN A LOT!!!
Are any of you guys in the Gainesville, Sherman, Denton, Ardmore, Durant,Plano, McKinney or any areas close to that, interested in getting a Monthly type steel guitar club or gathering together where everyone sets up and trades licks and info and materials and equipment, etc. If you have an interest in putting together something like that, let me know. If there is enough interest I will try to find us a place to start meeting around Sherman, Denton or Gainesville. Email me at geewhizmark@gmail.com if this is something that you would like to do.

OK Great
Hey Rick,
You make number six, so we'll see if we get enough guys interested to make it work. Thanks a lot. I think we can have fun listening, watching, teaching and just playing with others that love this instrument. We have a guy named Jason Stillwell in Soper, Oklahoma that is interested in coming also.
I will let you and the others know how it works out.

Hey Paul
Hello Paul,
I was hoping you and Curtis would be a part of it. Thanks a lot
So, that is number 7 and 8. Looks like I might need to start looking for a place to have it. I will keep you informed on how it's going. Thanks

Places to have it??
Gary, we need a room in someones business, like one of the steel players place of business or a steel players work shop/barn with fans or anything that would be comfortable and cool or warm during the winter. I have a small horse barn where we could start, but even with fans, it will not be comfortable enough in this heat.
Maybe someone paying attention to this ad, will have some ideas to offer.
Thank You Gary for wanting to help.

Mark, having been in that area for several years in my youth, and working there, I'd love to be a member and I'll help with free goodies, teaching supplies, strings, and such.
I won't be able to attend meetings however, this way you'll have the best out of me, "stuff" without having to see me!
I wish you luck with this, I'm behind you all the way,
Bobbe Seymour.

A meeting place has been established
Hello those of you interested in a steel guitar club here in the North Texas Southern Oklahoma area. I have found a place to start meeting in Gainesville. I need to know what time of the week would be a good time to have the meetings. Some of you guys let me know what will work for you.
Thanks a lot
Thanks a lot
Mark, Thanks for all the work you have put into this. Sounds like it will be a great fun playing and meeting other steel players from around the area. Also, thanks to Bobbe for his kind and generous offer. What a special player and a super nice gentleman he is. I look forward to getting to spend some time with other steel players. Just curious, have you thought of other musicians to play drums, bass, etc? Let me know if I can be of any help.

North Texas Steel Guitar Meetings/Club/Jam
Thanks Paul.
What I have envisioned for these meetings are steel players sitting around with there guitars playing and talking, and then hopefully we will have other musicians want to come; such as Bass players and guitar players and drummers, piano. If we get enough guitar players and bass players and drummers involved, hopefully we can expand to live music to play with. I was thinking like a Band In A Box or play along CD's for now,or just set up in (like a circle) and playing whatever somebody knows. We will have to see what it will evolve into.
I sure am glad you are interested. You will be a great asset. Thanks a lot. Get everyone that you can involved.

North Dallas and Southern Oklahoma area Steel Guitar Club
Ron, We would love for you to be a part of this. I am originally from Ardmore myself, and I am wanting this to be for anyone that wants to come. I want it to be around North Texas and Southern Oklahoma so the players in this area will have a club near them, but we won't care if they come from Nashville or Alaska. Hopefully this will turn out to be a really nice club, where we will learn alot and laugh a lot.
Thanks
Thanks
Mark, Being a little over 50 I do not remember like I used to. There are two more guys within 40 miles of Gainesville that would be interested. Tory Sweatman lives in Sanger and was very excited to be a part of this. The other gentleman is Monty Montgomery and I will contact him in the next day or so. I would bet he would be very interested. I believe we could find some other pickers to help out with the music. As you stated I would like to meet as many players as possible. I am excited to be a part of this. Thanks Mark for the time and effort you have spent and may this be a great success.

Hi Mark. Monty Montgomery from Argyle, TX. I play with the Denton County Cowboy Church Band in Ponder, TX. I'm not a member at that church, but at Crosstimbers
Community Church in Argyle, and Sunday night is when I attend there, since I'm playing Sunday Morning and also Wednesday nights at the DCCC. You can count me in..for one Sunday night a month I can miss church (my wife and I are part of the "Care Team".) I'll drop you an email about the meetings you are suggesting.
