Topic: .aa file to MP3 Converter? |

Have a few Audible Audio free books downloaded, wanting to load them into my portable MP3 player but naturally it doesn't recognize the .aa extension.
Anyone know of a simple possibly free converter that will let me do this on a one time basis? Anything taking the .aa to MP3 or even WMA would be perfect.

| The .aa files are "DRM" (Digital Rights Media") copy protected files. In order to convert them will require a rogue (illegal) file converter. |

Definitely do NOT want to go all rogue or even mavericky on anything----what would Palin and/or Bachmann do for a living then??

| You could record them by playing them on the PC and recording them from the Line Out (if the DRM allows that) to an external recorder or with a mic and an external recorder. Then "record" them to the PC via the Line In and save them to the hard drive. I know it's an aroundabout method but will work if you really want to. |

Apart from the DRM aspect I wonder if Audible Audio has its own converter or is my piece available from them in the MP3 or WMA formats at a small cost? Then again I'm guessing the DRM thing isn't something I want on my computer---went through that when ripping a Patty Loveless CD some years ago--back before no warnings were required before it was placed on a PC.
I might have to approach them directly since there's no easy or safe way.

DRM is built into Windows (a concession to the music and movie industries).
Some audio books are available in other formats such as the Apple store for iPods. You buy it/download it to your iPod. |
