Gospel Steel at the Convention

Post by Doug Rolfe »

I just wanted to let you all know that we are going to have a gospel steel show again this year at Scotty's in St. Louis. First of all a great big thanks to Scotty for allowing us to do this. It will be held in the Jefferson room just like last year from 3p to 7p on Saturday and the Joe Arview band will be doing the back up work. They are fantastic and are a great asset to the show. The line up is pretty well set, of course they may some changes based on circumstances. We have 8 slots and have confirmed 7 of those and are waiting on the 8th one. Slated to play are Doug Jernigan, Zane King, Albert Svenddal, Del Mullen, L.T. Zinn and Kurt Kowalski, Buck Grantham, Mike Sigler, and Bill Stroud(based on how well Bill is feeling at the time). We have Bobby Cox as first alternate should Bill not be able to do it.

Doug, I am sure proud of you, ole buddy, for keeping gospel music alive at the hub of the steel guitar world! I'm glad you're not growing weary in well-doing! You're just the man to accomplish a great feat! The times I got to attend your church service was always a stirring experience for me! We're not planning on being in St. Louis this year, but I'm glad you're still 'keeping on' getting the message out! It looks like you have a good schedule of players that will carry the mail! God bless you for all you do in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Congrats to Joe Arview and The Thunder Band! They were chosen as "Band Of The Year" last night at the International Country Gospel Music Assoc. Awards in West Plains, MO. These guys will be doing the backup work for our steel players. Come and be with us.

I just received conformation that Bobby Cox will be here and taking the slot that we had reserved for Bill Stroud. Bobby was our first back up but wasn't sure until now if he could make. Welcome Bobby to our Gospel steel show on Saturday at Scotty's.

Russ is going to be real busy this year with the special that he and Laney and the girls are doing. As well as his induction into the hall of fame. I always enjoy hearing Russ. He is an outstanding talent.
