| This has probably been dicussed, but how much does the Neo magnet reduce the weight of a BW 15? |

This info is from Mike Brown (Peavey)...

Danny,
I replaced my BW with a Ken Fox Sica Neo and it reduced the weight of my NV 400 by about 11-12 lbs. That is a very noticable difference and I feel the tone is equal or better. |

| I have an old scale from a doctor's office and according to it my NV7400 weighs 7 lbs less with the neo magnet. |

According to Mike Brown (Peavey), the Neo Magnet Structure (Item No: 00560870) can be ordered through any authorized Peavey Dealer.
Last time I checked, Duane's Music had one in stock...

I had one that I installed on the 1501 in my Nashville 1000. Didn't notice much difference (and not worth the high cost of the neo magnet).
A real drop in weight would be to replace the Peavey 1501 with the new Eminence EPS 15C neodymium speaker (a little under 8 lbs). The Eminence was designed to be a direct replacement for the 1501-4. |

| I should mention that the cost of a new 1501-4 basket and Neo magnet was just over $200.00 here in Canada a couple of years ago. I bought the speaker to replace the original Eminence in my Steel King. I have since sold the amp with the original speaker. So, the cost of a new BW Neo is within the range of the Sica and the new EPS-15C, and the BW has been a standard for many years and is an excellent sounding speaker. They are however, 4 or 5 lbs. heavier. |

| I put an Emminence neo in my Nashville 400 and according to my bathroom scale it went from 57.2 pounds to 47.4 pounds. It is very noticeable when you carry it. It needs some break in time but it's getting better with each gig |

| I replaced the BW in my cabinet with an Eminence today. I haven't played it yet, but on ordinary bathroom scales it went from 40 lbs to 31 lbs. I could really feel the difference. Will play it this Saturday night and see how it sounds. |

| To my ears, which are admittedly getting old, the Eminence 15 neo speaker didn't give up any tone to the BW. If they get better as they break in, this is gonna be a real jewel. The only particular reason I chose the Eminence over the Sica was that the mounting holes are the same as the BW. Installation was a breeze in my cabinet. All the band members who have been helping me load and unload my gear could really feel the difference and they liked to tone too. Now if I could get my MB 200, the speaker cabinet and packseat are the next up for a diet. |

| The 15" SICA has the same mounitng hole pattern, Danny. It is the 12" SICA that is a bit different. |

| Thanks Ken, I had a missunderstanding about that. The reason I even brought it up was to say that I don't know that one is better than the other. I've always been very happy with the work I've had you do and the chip mods I've gotten from you. Anyhow, so far I believe the neo speakers are mighty fine. What is the next innovation you're working on? |

Nothing new in the works yet. Just hanging out and have a nice summer! Been a slow year, but we are making the best of it and having a great time.
I do not see much of a market for handwired amps anymore. Seems most are going to light weight Chinese made amps. I can't compete with that market! We are just going to build amps on special order basis from now on for those who want a quality tube amp. |

| I understand. I have several amps that I really like, but due to age and a longtime back injury, I'm one of them experimenting with the light weight stuff. You keep thinking, you'll come up with something new. I have faith in you. |
