S10 1972 pp Emmons 3+5

Post by Marty Holmes »

Up for sale is my rosewood emmons i bought from Lynn Stafford. This is a great guitar and needs a new home.I do not have a way to take pictures ,but if Lynn sees this tread maybe he'll be kind enough to post a few.I just replaced all the button tuners with gotohs and will include the other tuning keys.Standard emmons on left side rkl raises 1&7 a whole tone to g# and rkr lowers 2nd string to c# and with a knowledgeable tech can lower 9th string to c#.Pickup is probably wound to 15,500 to 17,000 omhs so this guitar has that famous tone we all love and know them to be notorius for.Guitar has great tone and sustain all the way up the neck Huhgey land as everyone likes to call it.Guitar is not excellent shape but has not been tore up or mistreated normal scratches and ware for a 38 year old guitar and still has a lot of miles left on her.$1750 shipped my number is 713 377 4338 call me or reply on the forum as i dont have time for email.thanks marty

Assuming no problems, and it has a case, I'm very interested. I'll give you a call.

'73 Emmons S-10

Post by Lynn Stafford »

Hi Marty,

Gosh, I'm surprised you've decided to sell your Emmons. I'll see if I still have any photos, as I think sold it to you almost 6 years ago. It's a '73 satin rosewood fatback (1227 S). I remember replacing the Grover tuners that someone installed, with new Klusons I bought from Emmons Guitar. I completely rebuilt the guitar just before I sold it to you.
Best regards,
Lynn Stafford

Lynn, photos would be great if you still have them. I talked to Marty on the phone... I am very interested, but I am hesitating a little just because I've never owned or played a push-pull... I'm wondering if I'd be in over my head, considering it needs some work to get the 9th lower working right. I'm pretty comfortable working on all-pulls, but I've heard the push-pulls are a different story.

Bottom line:

If Lynn rebuilt it approx 6 years ago, then someone will be buying an essentially 6 y,o. P/P for $1750.00.

That is a killer deal in my book.

Sorry guys, but I can't find those photos. I even looked on the old SG Forum but they are gone, because they were posted differently in those days and were hosted on a different server.

Randy, It would be relatively easy for Bryan Adams (about 2 1/2 hours away in Mountain City) to add that 9th string drop to that guitar as well as to go over it for you. I sent you and email with my number, if you'd like to talk with me.
Best regards,
Lynn Stafford

Marty,

After giving it some more thought, I am going to hold off for now. Since I'm unfamiliar with P/P's, I believe I'd be in over my head in trying to change the knee levers to my setup. I'll step down and let someone more knowledgeable about P/P's jump on this one.

Thanks!
