I have sold at two or more to Webb owners who wanted to tame the high end bite a bit and it worked well for them. If you like a JBL or BW high end bite in your amp then the 350 watt speaker on my website would suit you better.
It is close to the power rating and if you push the amp into clipping with a lot of bass and power it can blow any speaker made, as the amp has no form of compression to stop square waves from getting to a speaker. Square wave distortion burns up voice coils. Peavey went to the DDT compression to stop that problem in their amps many years ago.

Hey Ken, what's up with the mounting holes on the 12 inch speakers? They won't fit a US cab?

That is correct. The 12" are on a different standard.

probably a dumb question, but I don't suppose a guy could just drill some new holes?

That is exactly what I do. However it would kind of mess with the warranty, so I can't recommend that.

I use a drill press and just put the hole close to the frame edge for the 12" speakers and it works for me. However you need to cover the speaker front with plastic to keep particles away from the magnetic field around the dust cap. Also cover the back of the speaker, leaving just the edge of the frame exposed.

You can mess one up real quick if you do not have a good drill, bits and a good bit of mechanical ability.

SICA 12"

Post by Dennis Ellerbee »

Ken, is there any difference in the 8 ohm or the 4 ohm 12" speakers. Does the ohms have anything to do with the sound that comes out. I have always heard that the ohms has nothing to do with the sound of the speaker.

They do show the same frequency chart for both 15" speakers at 250 watts.

We found the 12" Premium light at 4 ohms a bit brighter than the 8 ohm model, however.

Sorry for the confusion, I posted that reply while at Jack's house this evening. I did not notice it logged me into his account!
