Spent the entire day in Snyder at the Western Swing fest (ANNUAL) there. Wow! What a couple of steel guitar players. Roger is still with Billy Mata and the Texas Tradition band and brings that band alive for certain. He spent a lot of time on the C neck today as well he should playing the type of music Mata plays. Band was well dressed (alike) and is probably one of the most disciplined groups around. Jr. Knight's now playing one of MSA's new axes and it sounds great. Jr. now has been with the Jody Nix band for quite a while and really augments the twin fiddles of the band. In short both players knocked my hat in the creek. Terrific day.
Ps: IF Western Swing and Country music are DEAD someone forgot to tell the West Texas folks. Always the last to get the news. There were 4 rows of motor homes and RV vehicles that stretched for over a quarter of a mile in the huge parking lot. Oh well, someone will tell us we're playing the wrong kind of music soon.

Phred, you're so right. These two are a couple of fine players. I love singing with Roger in the side rooms at ISGC.
Jr and Roger are as good as you need. _________________ Ray Harrison

Fred, I went over and played in the beans and burger jam session tuesday night. I guess I didn't ruin anything since it was going on when you were there. I don't know if I'm gonna be able to get back over there again this year, but you are right. That thing is ripe with great steel players. Mix in Rick Price, Buddy Stephens, Ole Rooster with Kelly Spinks, Dicky Overby, just to mention a few and you've got a steel lovers heaven. |

Phred. I didn't see you there or maybe just didn't recognize you it's been so long. I would have loved to have spent some time with you. We had a great time playing Friday and had to hurry out to play at the Stagecoach in Fort Worth Saturday. |

Roger you saw me in the eating area. LOL. I knew you were super busy so I didn't really want to occupy a lot of your time. Us old folks need our rest.
