I would advise new players to avoid this article.

There's misinformation.

example:
Quote:

One of the pedal steel's greatest strengths is its ability to create perfectly tuned (i.e. "just tempered") music in any key.

The only thing that could makes that statement true is the hand (and ear) of a skilled musician, compensating for the instrument's inherent tonal quirks, but adjusting the bar position.

I look forward to Mike P's comments on it.

I think the author is a B-S-er who doesn't play the pedal steel guitar, and doesn't know what he's talking about.

Don't you love it when people who don't know what they are doing, tell people who DO know what they are doing, how to do it?

I think I'll start telling my doctor what to prescribe for all his patients. Or maybe I'll offer Earl Scruggs banjo lessons. Evil Twisted

That's what I thought when I read it. It sounds like a lead guitar player that "thinks" he knows all about Pedal Steel's.

Anyone affiliated with an organization having the words "planet" and "rock" in its name probably shouldn't plan on instant credibility in this neighborhood.

"just tempered"

My temperament is amused by the symbolism of this misconstruement.

Those of them who think they have a clue are really annoying to those of them who have a clue...

Warm Beer, Wet Toilet Paper, and Dumb Asses who have absolutely no knowledge of whence they speak are three of the most annoying items in my daily way of thinking.

mr. Walker just has to be a lead guitar player, and the leader of the Dumb Ass association.
Whoa! Devil Devil

Advice from an elderly steeler; Be careful what you believe when reading. It's dangerous as heck.

I wrote that in 1995 when I was experimenting with diatonic tunings. He stole it and cut out some essential segments. The result doesn't make much sense.

Here's the original article: http://www.b0b.com/infoedu/c_scale.html

b0b, I remembered that article. Where is E. Walker stationed now?

edited to add: b0b I just compared the two articles and you're certainly right, he stole the guts out of your article but omits several vital paragraphs. Makes one's efforts seem wasted; NO?

So besides being an ignorant poser the author is also a plagiarist. Perfect!!! Too bad there is no space for comments or corrections on this BS page.
