I have just confirmed Hank and Curtis for a show at the C. City opry in Colorado City Tx. on thursday nite July 27 at 7. pm. Curtis says he hopes the great Johnny Cox will be on steel, schedule permitting. Anyone in the area that may be interested in tickets shoot me an e mail, should be a killer show. Curtis put on a killer show last week and this will be next to none. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with Hank today , what a great guy , what a legend, the C. CITY OPRY is proud to bring this show to our area. |

Colorado City, Texas. Population around 4000 good honest West Texas folks who love country music. At least most of them do. What does it take to bring them out; try Curtis Potter, Jimmy Loessberg, and Hank Thompson and you'll have a full house on the first day of the announcement. All this thanks to the efforts of the Mitchell family, Doyle and his beautiful wife Debbie. Perserverance and determination are their middle names.
Thank goodness there are still folks around who bypass money profits to bring such performers out to the hinterlands. At the last show, Doyle and I were talking about just such an effort and I woke up this AM to read Doyle's post. Man he doesn't waste any time I can tell you. The tickets are close to being sold out and the radio announcement hasn't even hit the airwaves yet. Aint word of mouth wonderful.
Shady and Debbie, thanks for the time and money expended to bring these performers back out to West Texas. Betcha' the West Texas Steel Guitar Association is watching, if not they should be.

I saw Chad and Reggie Reuffer along with Gary (tryed to sell me a Rains) Carpenter, Ronnie Dale Schultz, and a drummer I think named Spicher, at the Texas Cowboy Reunion Wednesday night. (The Insiders) Talk about some high energy traditional Texas honkey tonk music, we had it. The Reuffers are friends of mine (and almost kinfolks). They used to let me set in before the hit the bigtime. They also have a prince of a gentleman for a Dad. I hope Reggie plays your Hank Thompson, Curtis Potter show, Doyle. Watch Reggie, he's also kind of a comedian and he will steal your show if you are not carefull. Mighty good singer and harmony singer also. I wish you much success with the show, Danny Letz

Danny, yes Reggie will be on fiddle I understand, I have heard great things about him but have not heard him in person, I am looking forward to hearing all these great pickers and singers. Sonny, we are only 5 hrs. from New Braunfels, a worthy drive for a great show but call for tickets, there is only a few left. 325 933 0113 is my cell. Hank Thompson is one of the all time country heros around here and of course Curtis is a Texas legend himself.Me and Debby and KAUM RADIO are proud to bring this kind of show to a small west Tx. town and are proud to be a part of keeping true country music alive and well. |
