Here's another set of pictures from our latest trip to Afghanistan. We went to a pair of joint bases called Bastion/Leatherneck. Most of the troops there are Marines. We also took a flight on an Osprey out to a more remote FOB called Fiddler's Green. I hope you like the pictures.
-Here's a picture of my bed, which is actually a cot... It was just a room with cots in it that we all stayed in. We were so tired at the end of the days here that it didn't matter where we slept.
-This is on the Pedro Compound on Camp Bastion. It's a small sector of mostly Air Force troops. They don't get any days off and just stay on alert to do medivacs.
-This guy's shirt was so cool I had to post it.
-This was the Combined Air Station on Leatherneck. It's just a shack, but they care for wounded soldiers and other things. Some of them came to the small concert.
-These are some of the staff and wounded soldiers listening to us.
-This is me and Captain Marcus Moyer, a Marine pilot who flies Ospreys. As it turns out he's an aspiring steel player. We talked for about 30 minutes before the gig that night. I turned him on to the forum and will try to get him hooked up with a good teacher in his area. He's got the steel bug too.
-Here's us loading our gear on a V-22 Osprey to fly out to a remote base called Fiddler's Green. General Toolan wanted us to accompany him out there to play for the Marines who never get any entertainment.

-We're packed on the Osprey for the trip back to Leatherneck.
-I zoomed in to get a picture of the gunner who sits on the back of the Osprey. They leave the back door open during the flight.
-Here's a shot of the Marines at our concert that night on the main stage on Leatherneck. I mentioned the dirt storm..... Well, here it is. Look at all the dirt in the air. These guys didn't care at all. Marines are just tough. It took me days to get that dirt out of my ears, and I still can't get the guitar clean....
-Another shot of the crowd that night. They basically just had to stand in a dirt field or sit on the ground to watch the show.
-Here they are, happy as can be. It was great to get to go out and play for them. We did our best to make sure they're on the radar for future groups to go there.
Thanks again for following the post. This will likely be the last big post of pictures since our trips away from the home base are over now. I'll probably make another one of our last gig here and the trip home. Thanks again for your interest and support.
