"I Just Came Home To Count The Memories" by Cal Smith. Not sure who is on steel, though it sounds like the incomparable John Hughey. _________________ The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being. |

CD,
I used to love playin' that song! I also got the band to do the Byrds version of "You're Still On My Mind." Here's a rehersal version that I hadn't heard before. The steel is much better on the album cut, but this is still steel fun!

Good list there Theresa. I haven't heard Never Knew Lonely for so long I'd almost forgotten it. Lots of emotion there by Vinny and the musicians. Was that John Hughey on the record?
Other suggestions: Remember When, Alan Jackson w/ Lloyd
Crash Here Tonight, Toby Keith
Lost in the Feeling,Conway w/ John Hughey
Martina McBride's classic country disc a few years back has some fabulous steel guitar on some great classics too.
