Jason Aldean's steel player?

The Truth

A band I play with has done this song live. I sold my Emmons S10 years ago... I currently have a National D8 console and a National Dynamic. I tried playing this on both and had trouble. I then switched to my Line 6 Variax and played it in open A using a LP model. It comes close, but not exactly... I'm assuming this is a pedal steel and not a lap. I really love the tone!

Anyone know who played on this tune? Thanx.

Sounds like a "lap steel (telerat)" or "slide strat" played lap style to me.

Jay Jackson plays on "The Truth" when Jason plays it live. Mike Johnson plays it in the studio-he's playin' his dad's Fender Telecaster like a lapsteel.

Can't believe nobody's commented yet on the Jason Aldean CMT special "By Invitation" this weekend. He has one kick-ass band.

And I love Jay Jackson rocking that Pro-I in his bare feet, all tatted up. He has a really nice sound. If your're a FoBro, Jay, take a bow!

I watched it twice and never really listened to him before. It was a lot heavier than I expected to hear, kinda almost like metal country!

helluva band, and, for the most part, Jason lets his band play on the recordings. I know, it's VERY thinly veiled country, but maybe (unless you watched the show) you haven't noticed who the target audience is....

Songs about big green tractors just have to be country!

He's got some pretty good guitar players with him, that preppy looking guy was great!

Once I heard the rap thing that was as much as I needed to hear; the rest,good music or not, just didn't matter. Remember, you can't spell Crap without rap!

The sad thing about the "rap" song, is that it starts out as a pretty decent sounding song, then does a nose dive. He does have a good band though.
