Peavey Special Amp/ unit has sold please close, thank you

Post by David Nugent »

'Peavey Special' amp '80's vintage, 120 watts and EXTREMELY loud and clean. Sounds very good through the stock Scorpion speaker, but I have tested it through a 12" BW, a 15" Jensen (original, not reissue), and an Eminence Delta Pro 12A, and it really comes to life. Did I mention LOUD, sounds as good or better than a Nashville 112 with much more headroom. Works well for six string also for those of you who double. Two button footswitch included...Update: While I had the amp disassembled to install the Fox chip upgrade, I decided to refurbish the entire unit and replace the unsightly factory tolex with Vox/Hiwatt white as shown in the photos. I will offer this amp in one of three versions:

Unloaded,(minus speaker)..........$200.00
Unit with stock Scorpion speaker..$220.00
Unit with Delta Pro 12A(sounds excellent but is fairly heavy).....................$250.00
Above prices do not include shipping.

specials are twice the power of bandits. my bandit 112 is 80watts so your special is probably 160 watts. good amps.

Thanks Chris, the data plate reads "300 watts", so I assumed that to be correct.

If that is a Special 130, that is the wattage from the AC side. The amp power rating is under the speaker output jacks, hope that helps!

Ken... My amp is marked 'Special' only and does not have the '130' configuration. The value printed under the speaker outputs is 120 watts RMS. Thank you for pointing that out....Bill, I have installed the Fox chip kit and am in the process of cleaning and reassembling the amp, will post photos when completed.

His amp is the first design 80'-81' the second design 82' had the parametric EQ added, different grill cloth, power amp, re-named special 130 and the list goes on. I've used these since 82'.

This amp, though sounding great, was very cosmetically challenged when I acquired it (dirty tolex, rusty hardware, etc.)so I thought a little TLC was in order, hence the makeover....The amp has sold....Thank you.
