Post by Chris Gabriel »

I am so glad this is happening and I will be there, all smiles.

It will be great to see you guys again, thanks for planning this Larry, Lynn, Harland, thank thank thank u.

I'll be playin my great-grandpa Will's Oahu Lap steel, which he played at bars in Oklahoma, back in the day. My grandpa saved it under his bed for 50+ years(grandpa Billy was a flat-picker), and recently handed it down to me, since I made the switch from vertical to horizontal. I had to replace parts for the cable to plug into, it is such an old guitar. Also, the pickup has been rewound, and the tone is pretty close to perfect. My grandpa was so happy when I played a western tune for him last year, he went and got that old guitar from under his bed and handed it to me right away. I was happily surprised. It will be an honor to be part of this super-fun event, and I look forward to jamming, eating, drinking, and being merry. Peace,
Chris

What time do the doors open and what time does the pickin' and grinnin' start?

I have a bunch of these marble bars for y'all to try... I just took a fresh batch out of the kiln this morning...

I've likely missed it elsewhere but...............

Larry..... might you be kind enough to once again
tell 'us' WHERE the entrance for this event can be found?

From Hwy.#99, facing WEST.........
the main front door is located in the center of the structure.

WHERE do the 'pickers' enter the building?

Thanks......and for all of the personal effort you put into these events. You're a very generous and giving feller.....and are very much appreciated.

Chris you should post the "Gabriel's World of Steel" shot!

Lotsa fun today, thanks to Larry, Harley, the band, and especially the Milwaukie Elks folks who actually made the first approach to have it there! Maybe it won't be a year before the next one.

A fun time was had by all, you can always tell by the broadness of the smiles. I am sure more pictures will follow.

We sat 29 players and I counted another 29 who live from Salem to Seattle that could have played if they could have come. Wow 60 steelers that I know and we know there are other players hiding out that we do not know. Oh the great NW territory is a fertile area for sure, in more ways than one.

Thanks to all who played and all who attended. The lodge told me that we have a home there and to come back even as early as next week. Boy are they happy and accomodating.

So until next time and the other 29 players show up...
Maybe I should start a NW steel convention like the Dallas and Mesa events, I wounder how much effort that would take!!!!

Great turnout, great fun, lots of cool gear. Many thanks to Larry who singlehandedly threw this together. Sounds like the Elks will be willing to have us back.

As ususal, everyone had their shining moments.

Kathy Muller took pix. I encouraged her to post them here.

Let the comraderie continue . . . . . . . . . . . .

Also, a link to my youtube channel, you can see me practice "I'm so lonesome I could cry" (and more) for the steel jam.
