Joe , I have had a pacemaker for 5 years and normal distances from your guitar & amp should not cause any problems. I get checked every 3 months and always has been O K . Just don't put your speaker near your chest , that strong magnetic field could have an adverse effect on the pacemaker !! Good luck !! Eddie "C" AKA the old geezer |

Thanks Eddie, I was thinking 12-15 " from Magnet, usually I have the amp in back or to the side of me. I knew their was some other guys that had pacemakers and was wondering if any of them had any problems with the amp. magnet |

Don't cuddle it like a baby, what the man says.... isn't magnetic force, like, logarithmic? Decreasing with the square of the distance, like at 3 feet nearly non-existent. |

Joe,
Sitting on the amp because you enjoy the vibrations is not a good choice!

I'm on my 2nd. Pace/defib. I was told the correct distance is 6-inches from the magnet, which would be at the back of the amp. It's also wise to remain at least that far away from the speaker, as vibrations, particularly low ones, can effect your device. (If you have a defibrillator, it can sometimes set it off - which thank heavens has never happened to me.) As mentioned by others in this thread, don't hug your amp, don't sit on top of it, and if you're playing and you start to "feel funny" heartwise, move yourself or the amp further away. Also, since pacemakers are almost always implanted on the left, You might want to place your amp to the right of you. I've done this, and have never had a problem. |
