Thanks again for all your work on that site, Ernie.

I don't think ANYBODY has ever been as willing to smile and cut up for the camera as the Big E! Yet another quality to admire.

Doug, I drive past that sign once a week -- and I always wonder if I'm the only person who is reminded of Buddy. The sign even has that Emmons chevron logo. A steeler-turned-butcher? I don't know, but I always feel slightly happier after driving by.

We have a lot of good steel players in the USA. I just wonder if we will ever have another, GREAT Picker like Buddy, in our lifetime ! So far, no one has even been close. Oh Well ! We had the master. What else could we expect ?

Thread drift alert...

Hey Bill -

I think Paul and Tommy are pretty good heirs to the Emmons legacy. I'm wondering about the generation after them... still looking for giants.

I like this one. His posture, seat height, steel height, elbow angle and slight "lean back" style as well as his Emmons Grin while blistering something should be a good model for anyone to reference.
I have it on the wall in my practice space right in front of me as a reminder.
Best wishes, Walter
