hey gang,

so i came across this pretty amazing early supro fry pan steel in blairsville, georgia. despite my pleadings, the lady doesn't seem to want to ship it, so i figure someone on the forum should have a go at it.

http://nwga.craigslist.org/msg/2335236014.html

i assume it's still available - at $300 it's a ridiculous deal, especially in that condition with original case. this was made by the national-dobro company, and the only one i could find for sale online was $1650.

here's a couple links:

So if someone snags it, let me know. I'm usually really good at finding deals like this, but this one got away. Would love to hear it!

If I only knew someone in Atlanta! It's the real thing: the sweet lil' old lady with a treasure that she's willing to let go cheap. You hear about it...and this is it.

Elderly has one for about $1K.

I have a cousin in Alpharetta, but even so it would still be a three hour round trip for her, so I'm not going to ask her to make it (because she would!). And then I'd feel bad for paying $300 for a piece that is worth quite a bit more than that -- even if Elderly is overcharging.

Kelly, I used to work for years for a company based in Alpharetta - but I don't know anyone at head office, darn it!

Anyway, you could always tell the seller that your conscience won't let you pay less than X dollars.

Just riffing, you know. Living vicariously. Smile

I believe Valco used cast zinc to build those. There were some posts years ago about those if I remember correctly. Seems they were hard to keep in tune (?) I don't understand why that would be.
Would be interesting to hear one........
