Joe,
Have a safe trip home. Please let me know if the trip back to Florida went according to plan at your convenience. Good luck to you in the coming months ahead. Chuck Sherman is in Maine for the summer. He returns to the Keys, and Georgetown a little after summer's end. Fortunately, friends responded to my urgent request to assist by reaching out to some of their friends. My thanks to all who participated in the efforts to provide a day of steel guitar entertainment.

Bill I made it home Ok after spending another seven days wirh my family..I truly enjoyed the Bash and I just wish those that are quick to jump on your post with negativity could have seen the frendship shown to a true devotee and dedicated friend of the instrument..To have the likes of a Terry sutton bringing his Stone canyon band and setting up the sound systen and hanging around for 7-8 hours thats amazing. There is no way that i could say anything that would do justice to all the players and singers that drove those long miles to be there. One of my personal favorites was Randy Rollman who in my opinion had to put up with a dominating keyboard player that I had to ask off...John Demaille and his better half Darlene were great..Sammy Gibson and Daughter Renee was WOW..Frankie Caruso you can always count on for great playing Country...But I want to commend the two New England Hall of famers ,Eddie Cuningham and Manny Escobar.Eddie showed why he is considered a non pedal legend and a tru legend and pioneer of the instrument...Manny was not on the play list but he graciously got up toward the latter part of the show and showed what an entertainer he is..He even brought Willie with him...My apolgies for repeating songs that were done earlier...And what a treat it was to sing once again with George Shecter (spelling ?)ChucK Sherman, and I apologize for anyone I have left out but I'm sure Bill will fill in the spots..Bill the 25th can only lead to the 26th..Can you Imagine,My CDs were all sold after the first set, I will bring many more next time as I am sure ther will be a next time ..Thanks to all for recharging an Old Pharts batteries... Long live the MASSBASH...

Joe,
I'm pleased to learn that your flight back to Florida was without incident. It was an amazing scheduling of plans to accomplish goals that would coincide with attending the "MASSBASH" on Sunday, May 1st, 2011. Everything, including expectations of unforeseen developments, turned out to be well below the standard, for an event featuring a staggering number of talented steel guitarists. To say that the special day became a memorable event for the benefit of posterity would be just another understatement. More accurate reporting would invariably point to the overflow, and upsurge of highly talented individuals amassed beneath one roof. There is a sense of awareness that prevails among promoters at your level of expertise, that
becomes more pronounced in upper level performances.
An excellent emcee is able to contend with all stage situations; from the usual orderly proceedings to a mix of unexpected developments. Once again, I wish to thank everyone for making the "MASSBASH" a very special day. Thanks again Joe for your carrying through with the plans to feature New England Steel Guitarists, plus several from New York, and Florida.
Special note:
For the benefit of our readership, who may not be aware of one special guest who was the last to perform. His name is (GEORGE SCHACHER) who heads the "AGED IN THE HILLS BAND". George lives in Balston Spa, N.Y. George is multitalented. He plays all country music stringed instruments.

Joe,
For as long as I can remember, the saying, "A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS" has been iterated countless times through the years. Your pictures on display here in this events column, illustrate the truthfulness of the coined phrase. Once again, I wish to thank each of the attendees for supporting the event, and all others who contributed, albeit indirectly. It became a memorable occasion for those who were surprised to see acquaintances who are now quite distant in terms of miles from each other. We learn by listening to suggestions made by those who are at home with a steel guitar setup, and individuals who respect cultural values.

Leigh,
Thanks for your support from your new home in Scotland. You were always a credit to the music that is written about life as it is in reality. No other written music focuses as much attention on factual real life situations. Your singing of: "Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You", is a perfect example of how well you can deliver a "country music" message. We miss our Sunday evenings at the former Billy T's Lounge and their brand of hospitality, featuring your former "Mavericks" Band.

I have in my possession, a picture CD, containing 35 great "MASSBASH" photos, taken by my good buddy MANNY PHILLIPS. He used a different camera this year. Manny is pictured in the "MASSBASH" column, seated at his pedal steel guitar. Please watch for the interesting photos taken at The ITAM LODGE steel guitar event, held on 5-1-11. Thanks..
